To clarify for non-Alaskans… This NOT sport fishing, it is snagging. Sockeye are plankton eaters in the ocean and stop feeding altogether once they enter fresh water. The only way to harvest them is by snagging or netting. The snagging technique used in this video is called “flossing”. Using a weighted treble hook like we use in saltwater would decimate our freshwater trout population. Flossing is a way to snag where, if you do happen to snag a trout, it’ll survive after release.
