We don't hire cops to stand on the tracks in front of an oncoming freight train. This man was utterly out of control, and armed with a large metal spike. He had threatened his family, and neighbors, and couldn't & wouldn't be stopped. He should long ago have been institutionalized, not permitted to live in the community. Unfortunately, he had to be shot to be stopped, but it was a very high pressure confrontation, even for the cops there who had had some sort of training previously in dealing with mental cases like this. The news today says Walnut Creek settled the family's wrongful death suit for $4,000,000, After seeing this video, it is my opinion as an experienced criminal defense attorney, that the city should have taken the case to trial. The people on here saying that IT was justified are speaking from a perch! The PR lady for the police department mentioned that there were two cops that had years of great training in crisis situations. Where was that training in this case????? Not one of the police officers showed that they had GREAT crisis training! You can’t de-escalate a crisis situation with a gun in one hand and verbal commands of STOP. GET A CLUE!

1:19 - 1:23 there is a significant difference in the background volume of the video. Breaking it down into a sound mixing software, you can hear a siren that is present but disappears during 1:19 - 1:23 where the suspicious claim "You will be gassed" was moved. Right after he says "You will be gassed", he continues to say "Move out of the way". The siren is still present when he uses the speaker, but magically disappears during the few seconds in question. What siren magically disappears for 4 seconds?

WCPD's defense is nothing less than war. They killed Miles Hall. They shot a 14 year old in the head with teargas. I confirm they said "Go Home. Floyd's Dead". This video isn't the only instance of inappropriate and disgusting remarks made by WCPD. They act less than human, but somehow feel superiority over every non cop. These aren't good cops. All these comments saying how WCPD did a great job, but how is shooting a mentally ill person and killing them a great job. Ya I get it, it was a difficult situation, but maybe police should be better trained on how to handle people with mental health issues. Why didn’t they tase him or pepper spray? His friend claimed he said it but he didn't know Mike Brown's DNA was gonna be found inside the police car. This is the same friend who said the cop shot Mike Brown in the back..... but then the Autopsy Report showed pictures of the front & back and there were Zero gunshot wounds to his back.
