Alot of issues could have been releaved if they didnt centralized office jobs. Everyone wanted the status of working in the CBD. Should have spread them out, if they didn't need to actually to be in CBD. If they had more offices, shopping, entertainment shared around the suburbs especially Govt clerical work people would have bought up housing close to work. Them they would mostly come into the CBD for events in Wellington on the weekends.

Spent first 8 years of my life in Linden, was a small community where you knew lots of people and you had the freedom to roam safely (including eeling up in the hills, something my older brother was keen on).

They're great bikes to ride. Perfect touring machines because they're super comfortable and you're always facing forward so never miss the view. The PDQ has been out of production for two decades now, but there are plenty of worthy options from other manufacturers which are just as nice to ride. The video is from 16 years ago, but I still have that bike and still ride it often. It's over 25 years old now. On Sunday I added another 100 km to the bike.

@@DavidHembrow Wow that's a strong effort. I'm ruined after 80km on my mountain bike. I like the idea of a relaxed riding position.

@@DIY-DaddyO That was just the second half of my ride on Sunday. I started the ride with another recumbent, a velomobile which has two chains. Unfortunately, the short second chain broke. I repaired it but didn't have an extra link with me. As a result that chain was then too short and under far too much tension. This made it impossible to ride at a normal spoed. I could only exceed 25 km/h with a *lot* of effort so I bailed and took the shortest possible route home. But when I got home I saw this reliable old this sitting there so I ate my lunch and went back out to join in again. In the end the total for the day was 206 km. The difficult bit was the 45 km that I rode with the broken bike. Before and after were really pleasant.

Nice video! Question: How are VREDESTEIN tires there in Holland. I have been using Vredestein Fortezza tires on my Colnago Master road bike for almost 20 years and love them. I find them pretty puncture resistant and durable. Unfortunately, almost nobody rides them anymore.

The narrator saying the teenagers from Wainuiomata should go more into Welly to art galleries, etc! Most of them were working class kids and wouldn't be seen dead doing that sort of thing. If their mates found out... Their parents, except maybe Mum would not see an "arty" stuff being important. If you were interested you kept it bloody quiet! Even serious educational aspirations was viewed as trying to be better than your family and stiill is thought the same in certain stratas of society.

Great idea, why not just turn the pedal to match the lift and utilize the mechanism and gears with limited human interaction? That’s where things mess us. This is asking for someone to get a strain and sue the city.

Cities in the US commonly reroute roads like this, but the old roads are retained as through roads, with slip lanes to allow drivers to maintain fast speeds on them. It would be nice if my city repurposed the roads like this. The resultant bike facilities would be high-quality, but difficult to connect to the wider network.

I found one in my father's stuff but ours just records sound, no image. the same output (SCART) from the VCR recorder shows image on the TV (also SCART) so it must be the device or the cable (that came along with it). I have no idea what's wrong.

23:20 Is that Sturdee St? If so, it became part of Victoria St extension. And it was originally Quinn St or Quin St. I'm 99% sure in the video it's Sturdee. Well before my time. Obviously before the radicals banned vehicle parking from the CBD. 1970s was a huge decade of change in the capital. Lucky anything is left anywhere.

There is a sign at the entrance of each motorway stating that it is forbidden for cyclists. "Vehicular Cyclists" are supposed to know and follow the car rules, so they must know the rules. This man should have been fined.

these men are turning in their graves! we havent designed and built anything like our grandparents generation did. just look and see from 1920 to 1970.. in that 50 years how much was build in such a small time with a small population. and today we have the biggest housing crisis in the world, we have the largest housing shortage in the world for our population. house prices are at impossible prices which means most kiwis cant afford one, so businesses will buy them and rent them to people. our governments dont know how to design, plan and build new roads, towns, and houses... we have managed to destroy in one generation what our fathers build! what a shame!!!

Our Govts don’t want to grow a country they want to import a country which means people come in and boost the economy but we are always playing catch up with infrastructure like health care and housing predominantly.
