Thanks for loading that video - I realise a few years old now.. Would it be possibly to discuss further the process of matching Bajaj body panel parts to Vespa frames? I have a project and suspect Bajaj parts are going to be my only option to get the look Im after.

What a truly beautiful and faithful SS100 replica. I would love one of these. It really is a crying shame that they were closed down by JLR 😪

Hi, this is a very interesting video. Thank you for making it and sharing it with us on KZbin. I am building a replica of a 1955 MGTF on a Vitesse Chassis and as I get close to working on the doors I am facing a dilemma. Do I continue with the rather heavy framed fibreglass doors which are rather bulky or make new ones as you have shown here? Which fit really nicely. I did see another KZbinr skinning a Morgan door which was a steel skin and was clinched around the whole door like a modern car. I think I will have to have a closer look at a genuine TF and possibly a friend's TC to see exactly how they have their skins attached. Certainly, watching your video it appears to be a straightforward process to make the frame. Question... After you have finished the frame and drilled the dowel holes, do you disassemble the frame to apply wood glue to the joints before reassembling and glue and dowel? 🤔 Kind regards Paul from 48 Spokes 🇬🇧

There is a municipality museum in Colombo, near the sea. It has an interesting collection of vehicles like steam rollers, a steam truck of British make, a Standard van which is actually a mobile library, some animal drawn trucks used to cart garbage and a few old cars

Didn't they only have a spindly two bearing crankshaft with ball bearings front and rear? Never could figure out how anyone had the guts to get more power out of, what looks like, an under engineered product, amazing.
@thephilpott21942 жыл бұрын
It is indeed a 2 bearing crank, you wouldn't want to get much more than 4500 out of it for fear of crankshaft whip, but people do thrash them up to 5,000rpm or more. In all honesty the fuel tank being right behind the engine is a greater worry.

@@thephilpott2194 School friend of mine had one back in the early 60's , took me for a ride one day, jumped out of second gear under acceleration, but it made for the fastest gear change from 2nd to top without driver assistance. not even a crunch.

@@trevorcharlesmorgan That's interesting, I had an old E93A Ford Prefect and they all wound up jumping out of second gear and you could fix it {well I did on a Mechanics advise} by putting a second oil slinger in front of the rear main bearing which forced the output shaft harder into the spigot bearing. problem solved, clutch shudder was a Ford design fault, would not have happened in the10/10 Van.

Brilliant news with the workspace. Battery in Austin looked so large in there I thought at first it was an electric conversion. Locost looks so nearly there...but been there before with the 7...really hope it sees the road soon and looking forward to the build videos.

Great video. Austin still looks nice. Interesting reflections on pluses / minuses on working in Sri Lanka vs. UK....as you say it's pretty horible working out in the cold (one time, while I was actually working on a car overnight, a thick frost formed on my coat and on all my tools. Really looking forward to seeing the Locost build finished.

The Bajaj scooter models, Super, Chetak and Priya are all based on the Vespa, the Chetak on the late 60s Vespa Sprint, Super on the mid 60s Vespa 150 Super and the Priya on the late 50s Vespa Gran Sport (150 GS) and VBB models of early 60s. In the late 80s, Bajaj still using the original 60s Vespa body style in the Chetak and Super models. But from 1990s all the Bajaj models got a total makeover which replaced the Vespa style front end and included indicators. For perfect Vespa conversion, the late 80s Super and Chetak are more suitable than 90s models, as they looks a lot like Vespa originally and needs some small cosmetic works like badges, trims etc. Anyway, nice conversion, this is very helpful for those who have 90s Bajaj models but want to convert to 60s and 70s Vespa. Nice video, keep it up! 👍👍👌👌😊😊😉😉
