This was one of my favorite episodes. It showed a rare look at how institutions outside of SHADO handled UFOs. Next the fact the Royal Navy denied they had shot one down and created a cover story of an accidentally shoot down of an experimental aircraft. They lied to Straker to cover up their own secret activities. Also it showed even SHADO did not know of the nerve gas disposal. There was an espionage angle to this episode. An extremely beautiful guest star that made viewing enjoyable. A golf outing. A submarine dive to a depth that is shown as dangerous. Moon base operations and interceptor shooting down one of two UFO. Open discussions of using the amnesia drug on an admiral. The naval forces duel with UFO unit conventional weapons such as AA guns and artillery Skydiver showing up and the naval officers being astonished

Those mesh shirts are supposed to be worn under heavy winter coats. They hold in heat much better than sweaters and allow for perspiration to not get trapped. The nordics use the a lot.

mechanical motion control rigs - and then you crop out the guy turning the crank and and the equipment around the edges of frame - apply some filters to make blue transparent and it should give a nice result of smooth motion for the model

I tried using this in a mash up but my chroma key is not sensitive enough - they're doing a sort of analogue motion control rolling cameras on tracks etc

interceptors are also equipped with cannon for closer encounters but their use is never shown in the series

IRC the missile is a nuke and was used because it could attack the UFOs at range and actually destroy them since their tech was more advanced. The idea is you just had to be "close enough" and space is mostly empty Looks like they forgot that in this episode.

Did you have the SHADO 2 tank as well? It was dark green and the top "sun roof" would spin over to reveal a yellow plastic missile you could fire.
