There are numerous videos circulating that highlight the privileges and comforts afforded to a convicted criminal Duminda within the prison system. But what purpose do these videos truly serve? While they may pressure those in charge to act, isn't it ultimately the responsibility of the democratically elected government to remove corrupt officials and overhaul Sri Lanka's penitentiary system? Why do we continue to focus on this issue when neither the government, nor the relevant ministers, nor the prison authorities seem willing to take any meaningful action? Is there any force in Sri Lanka more powerful than the government, the executive president, and the judiciary combined?
