What a beautiful tribute. Thanks for this very nice video tour of some of her early homes, and the yellow roses-- picked from the yellow brick road-- honoring Judy in her final resting place. May God rest her soul 🙏

Very enjoyable! Thank you for posting. I see a lot of Judy Garland related books on your book shelf.... and just wondering what is in the framed piece under the picture of Miss Garland. Perhaps a signed check ? Thank you again for your videos. Sincerely, Charles Triplett

Jack, just some constructive criticism: you really need to ask follow-up questions. Maybe they were edited out? For example, when she said her mother could be cruel, I was dying to hear some examples. Cruel in what way? Such a statement should be clarified because now my mind is running away with me wondering how was Luise Rainer cruel to her daughter? I’m having to guess that she was not physically cruel. But how was she mentally or emotionally cruel? Was it just because she had no interest in reading her daughter’s poetry? And how was she jealous of her daughter? In what way? Examples…? This is the job of an interviewer. To pre determine what his or her viewers want to know.
@brucee6123
@brucee6123 Жыл бұрын
If you watch the Joe Franklin interview from 1980ish, there is a part where Luise suddenly mentions that her daughter is in LA and had tried to be an actress, and acknowledges she is very beautiful, but it seems a bit odd - pointed - how she mentions it and leaves it hanging that she wasn't a success.

@@brucee6123 I saw her on that show and remember exactly what she said. Joe asked Luise if Francesca had any theatrical ambitions and Luise said Francesca was "very beautiful" but "didn't make the grade." Not a nice way of putting it.

Such a legend that in all my life I never saw one single movie starring Dietrich, and I was born in 1980 and was really beleaguared with (old) movies... They say Der blaue Engel and Morocco... and what else? And when did anyone show it? Cause I saw Charlie Chaplin and Lana Turner in 3 Musketeers like half a dozen times...

I'd like to think Judy attended real brick and mortar schools and socialized with other kids, but didn't she attend MGM's own "little red school house?" with other young performers like Mickey Rooney and Lana Turner when possible, or receive on-the-set private tutoring during filming breaks?

I have just discovered Ms. Rainer via my niece's friendship with her great granddaughter, both graduating from USC. Beautiful interview and insightful look into a star with back-to-back Oscars. Wow! I'm glad Francesca keeps them beautifully displayed where she is never far from the history made by her beautiful mother. Thank you!

The book written by Maria Riva was another "Tell All" that did nothing for the image of Marlene Dietrich. Nothing but another "Mommie Dearest" book. Maria should be ashamed, but the money from the book sales was probably what she wanted just as was the case with Christina Crawford, Bette Davis' daughter, Bing Crosby's son, and most recently Shirley, MacLaine's daughter. Judy Garland's children are a rarity in always stating they loved their mother and that love far surpassed the problems that may have existed.

@@Michaelneiss That is the question, "What is the Truth" and was that Truth based on the facts or the large sales of a book? I remember once when Cary Grant was asked about all the books written about him, he simply stated one could believe the facts about a movie's premiere date and other such statistics but as for the rest in the book, "forget it".
