I think the best place for dark knight armor is the halfway point grace through the castle ensis, theres a grace where a black knight spawns like 2 meters away from the grace, you can kill it, sit down and kill it repeatedly.

you don't need the hag's bane. You can just toggle the setting to do temporary damage in melee instead of permanent damage. When you knock ethel out you can cut Vanra from her stomach. I find this a much more satisfying rescue for some reason.
