……that’s what people forget when they enter, eg a flooded roadway, that water is VERY powerful, & dangerous. Water, in the form of the Colorado River, carved the Grand Canyon over millenia………

Seems silly to allow all this rubble to flood the road. Wondering why the road builders didn’t include a runoff shed to cover the roadway so the rubble flow over the road and down into the valley below.

Unfortunately we were not entitled to “see” what was down hill from the runoff whether it be a village, farms or valley. In my area road builders constructed several “snow sheds” over the roadway in mountainous sections so snow from avalanches in winter time didn’t block the highway and impede traffic. Similar concept used for rail lines in mountainous areas too.
