The main issue I take with many of these kinds of houses in Texas is the construction quality. It all looks nice and fancy, but the tiles in bathrooms are not as thick as they should be, and the same with countertops and cabinets, stairs in some of these houses sound like light construction, and floors in general are not that great. Drainage outside in the yard is often not existing or done poorly, which later leads to shifting of the concrete pads, erosion in some places, and so on. Insulation is not that great either, one has to spend more energy to cool/heat the house. There is a reason why these look awesome and cost surprisingly lower than expected.
