I appreciate the detail of placing bearings in the joints. Where that fits it is really going to improve the robustness and durability of your project. Where bearings are not an option, might I suggest Delrin? You can buy Delrin balls that can screw into the ABS for the ball joint for example. I will keep watching.

Genius idea. My only recommendation is that the droid's legs should straddle the bike, like when you ride a bike or motorcycle. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Thanks for sharing, Mike! It was great meeting you and chatting about droids. Already looking forward to the next one (though I could do without the COVID, too)...

Hi, thanks for introducing droid expo existing. I don't build droids or anything, but the algorithm suggests I should lol.

You should check your sound. it's the fifth in a row it's set on mono where it should be on stereo. for now we can just listen to you from one ear only and it's disturbing

Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I changed my video editing software and had no idea it was setting the audio track to mono. I will re-edit these videos and repost them as stereo.

What size bearing are you using for the neck
@steckasaurusstudios3 ай бұрын
The ones in the neck (turn head side to side) are the ones called out in the design, 6800-2RS, which are 10 x 19 x 5. The ones I designed in to support the head and connect to the neck (head up and down) are 606-2RS 6 x 17 x 6

do you have the neck piece stls available anywhere that include your bearing mod?
@steckasaurusstudios3 ай бұрын
Because these stl's are modifications to original Droid Division files, which are behind a pay wall, I can't make them available to the public.
@sean1hanna8 күн бұрын
@@steckasaurusstudiosfully understand. Could you provide them to Dave to allow him to add them to the pay files?
@brentferguson37553 ай бұрын
did the STL come with the servo attachments or did you update that yourself?
@steckasaurusstudios3 ай бұрын
If you are talking about the linkage between the servo arm and the connecting point in the neck, those are not included in any of the stl's from Droid Division. You need to figure out a connecting link yourself. If you mean the place where the servo is physically screwed into the model, then yes those screw hole locations and brackets are included.

I thought it was a great video. I’ve spent a fair bit of time picking masks apart and a dental cleaning set has a real handy pic to get the small parts of a decal off of that helps any. I liked the paint tutorial, I have a heck of a time thinking through multiple schemes and which mask to do when. I always have to write it out lol. Have you used any of the Vallejo acrylic paints? I wonder if self etching primer would save any sanding time on a larger project? All very informative and entertaining! Thanks for the video and keep up the great work, also great tunes for the channel too! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

I’ve not used Vallejo, but Brian from the Smuggler’s Room told me they were his preferred airbrush paints. Etching primer is really only used for painting metal. And it doesn’t eliminate the need for sanding. One thing that can cut down on sanding is filler primer, which I’ve used once or twice.
