Scrappy was bad. I was confused when they changed the show around. Scooby no longer anchored my saturday morning relay team.

As someone who grew up right after the Scrappy era, I find him the least enjoyable thing in most everything he's in. However, I don't hate him like some do. If someone can use him well, let them try. Otherwise, I'm fine with leaving him in the past. He may have saved the franchise, but at what cost?

I knew a few people that liked or at least didn't mind Scrappy. And the fact that Scrappy did love and respect his Uncle Scooby redeemed him a little in my eyes.

So one day I was reading on TV Tropes, as one does, and one of the examples for a trope was JATPC. Other than explaining the trope it said that it had Parker Posey at her Parker Posiest. Having no idea who this Parker was, the wording piqued my interest so I downloaded the film, and boy am I glad I did.

Not getting the satire in this movie is WILD! The movie slaps you with its message, and the critics responses are absolutely mind boggling

Cartoon puppy from the 1970s? Scrappy-Doo was created in 1980 - after the 1970s were over. Not long-over - but over. By the way - to say “everybody hates Scrappy-Doo” is a bold statement - because though a LOT of people hate Scrappy-Doo - not EVERYONE hates him. For example, I do not. Granted - this is largely because I never saw the seasons responsible for the hate he receives -- but even if I did, I would more likely hate those seasons than hate Scrappy-Doo himself. By the way -- about pro-Scrappy people being all younger -- I am Gen X.

The Character is indeed annoying but I never understood this hate level on the character, I mean I've talked to people who hated Scrappy even more than Angelica from the Rugrats. The show didn't became bad because Scrappy was in it, it's because the classic formula was changed by the writers during his presence and people associated him to the terrible changes made by the writers that occurred during his presence.

I used to hate Naruto for the death of Toonami as the series was shoved down our throats. So I see why some hate Scrappy. I've given up my hate of Naruto now that Toonami was revived, but took time. I for one never hated Scrappy. I loved the pup.

30:41 That's all true. We shouldn't just hate something or someone in fiction. Scrappy is proof that sometimes adding a so called 'scrappy' into a show can save it. Scrappy ain't no villain, he's a hero! Full of good! #JusticeforScrappy

It's a good movie and I return to it quite a bit. It's not great by any means but far from the trash it was perceived to be. Funny enough I learned about it from conspiracy theory videos I was into when I was younger. This and SLC Punk honestly fit an oddly similar vibe. Both having messages about individuality.

When I was first was watching TV as a toddler, it was during the Scrappy era. I liked it for what it was. But then again what 3 year old isn’t entertained by cartoons. But once syndicated television started airing the OG Scooby Mysteries, I wasn’t even 8 years old and thought to myself: “OMG! This is soooooo much better!”

"Blank is the new blank" is always in my head from this movie. I work at a library and the other day I was like "Freida McFadden is the new Colleen Hoover" because of how the popular books were trending. Also how can so many critics miss the point of the product placement? The McDonald's hotel room was so over the top it was obvious to 14 year old me that it was satire.

@haljordan7775 ай бұрын
12:00 This is because most professional movie critics, especially back then, lack a sense of humor (hence why they favor boring but serious dramas) and were treating this satirical comedy as if it was a serious drama.

2:44, The inclusion of A Star is Born (2018) was very clever since that movie & Josie and the Pussycats (2001) were both shot by the same cinematographer, Matthew Libatique.

What I find most intriguing is that Scrappy's the only of such characters who EXECUTIVES hate with a passion. Usually, for the most obviously vile characters such as Caillou, only ordinary watchers seems to hate them. But this character who 1) fulfilled his contract and 2) isn't even that bad (also eradicated Mindy from the "Velma" show), it's the industry that's kicking him the most viciously. Very ungrateful.

Screweverybody who hated Scrappy Doo. I grew up in the 80's & everybody and myself liked him. He damn near was the show. Real kids of the 80's liked him. Hated he was the big bad in the live action movie. At least Scrappy would be helpful & not eat all your food.
