………read the books’ after watching the show when it was first televised here, in 1978. Fell ‘in love’ with actor Nigel Havers! Still watch anything he appears in, the latest being in ‘Downton Abbey’ series’. He played Lord Lindsay in that fab film, ‘Chariots of Fire’. My son’s first name is Lindsay…………

My family thought it was really good and my mother couldn't believe someone could actually write that she was impressed. However, they said they felt the ending was anti-climatic like how long the whole scotland yard storyline thing was before the actual killer part. now in their defense I felt Agatha Christie could have condensed the ending to include just the killer part. ..but I also didn't read the book first I played a video game and let me tell you it REALLY changed my viewpoint of the story. For me, it's one of my favorite mysteries...when I read the book it was just as good as the game, but with the visuals of the game it made it better.

I have only just discovered this. It has to be one of the most compelling crime dramas to come out of the UK. The characters are credible and the scenery is stunning. It deserves a wider audience.

I grew up on the cattle ranch south of king city that stienbeck talks about where the valley narrows seems like the story is still going my grandparents and a lot of the locals did not like stienbeck because he used locals and their storys or "rumors" for the foundations of a lot of his books. kinda aired peoples dirty laundry but i guess it worked out well for him not so much my grandfather or uncles

Looks like "Danny" is, in fact, still carrying a torch ... "Louisa" is putting up a tent in heels ... and her hair has a brownish tint to it ... Not criticisms, just observations ... Love this scene ...

It was a good series, Especially seeing these arrogant business types driven by money and greed getting screwed over and losing everything, including his families respect. *Insert Nelson Muntz' Haw-Haw!* But the parts with his elderly relative with Alzheimer's I did find relatable as I had a Grandmother who went through the same.

Read the book, and also read the biography of Evelyn Waugh “Mad World” by Paula Byrne. Then watch the videos again. You’ll see do much more. Many people will dislike the extreme wealth of the family. But realize that people like this existed, now largely replaced by first generation wealth with no traditions, class, or charm. Now the uber wealthy piss money away on a cheap- looking lifestyle. “New money” it’s called. So why have an interest in Brideshead? It’s good to know the historical context that created us today and the story and photography are compelling. You don’t have to like the characters but you should understand why people like that existed.

I think that it's funny that in a lot of the episodes, someone who was just about to get killed will see something falling down on them, but they just stand there and watch it hit them! They don't try to move away at all! Lol

This is actually not just a series this is actually a true to life scenario, thre is a group operating out of the redruth area in cornwall that are fraudulent and targeting elderly people, there are fraudsters working with in adult social care , the NHS and involved in a church that operate in the exact same ways this series has highlighted, posing as people they are not, theft, stealing , cold reading, grooming, even kidnap & murder. A list of false liquidated companys all with the same "directors" , using the care system & people within it to gain financually through funding altho the clsims are fraydulent, black mail, and a false family front at a "family" home, tregarth, tolgus hill , redruth. Elderly people have been targeted , people harned and the authorities even searched the address at tregarth ,tolgus hill in redruth in cornwall and discovered peoples bank statements , stolen financial infomation etc... these people operate not just in the southwest. The criminal activity is a group and all connected its very alarming and known and this series really highlights exactly what fraud is and this group are. Martin Gray, Jabe Gray, Kathrine Gray, Barbra, Tonya Mckenzi these names are just sone of the names some of the members go by. Beaware tgese people target elderly and are very dangerous scum who are fraudsters and have victims who have ended up missing or dead.

I saw this and was reverted, transfixed and mesmerised! It's absolutely bloody brilliant. Why? It's dependent on its fine scripts and amazing acting that draws you in. Livia is especially awful but brilliant. On the back of this I read Tacitus and Seutonius.
