Thank you so much for this documentary Bachfest Malaysia and Dr. David Chin. I'm 23 years old and Bach's music has been a part of my entire life, ever since I was a baby. I don't think I've ever learned more about Bach since watching John Eliot Gardiner's documentary.

Bach's music reaches to the core of my being like nothing else in art, bringing all the parts to unity, to balance. Thank you for this excellent production.

The chosen tempo of the first part of the unreachable St. Matthew passion is too fast. It's not about speed It's about the human heartbeat in a 12/8 bar. A heart that griefs. you should have chosen Karl Richter and the Munich Bach choir and Munich Bach orchestra!

I bought this book on my first trip to the Leipzig Bachfest in 2022. It's a four color hardcover and not the easiest thing to lug back 7,000 miles to Honolulu, Hawaii, but completely worth it! It's in chronological order and has a page of text in German and English (in my edition) on the left page, with a graphic on the right. For the generally curious as well as the dyed-in-the-wool Bach aficionado!

Far too fast.

Oh dear. Starts out with one of those bouncy-bouncy thin-voiced allegedly historic renditions of the Matthew Passion. Over-emphasis on every downbeat. Karl Richter performances are the gold standard for a balance of clarity and weight.

Great documentary. I knew that Bach did not have an easy life, but the condition of having to marry Buxtehude's daughter to get his job is bizarre.

This was outstanding. I finally lost it at the end with the "soli deo gloria." Bach was God's gift to humanity for all ages, esp ours.

I first watched and enjoyed this in 2020 during the dark days of Covid. I re-watched it again after a few months. This week I have watched it again and enjoyed it all over again. Thank you very much for making this and sharing it with us. I have also shared this with a friend who did not know much about Bach. She loved it and is beginning to understand why he speaks to people all over the world centuries after his life and death.
