Found your channel a few months ago and have watched a lot of your Pinball FX videos, really appreciate the length and quality of the vids! As a newer player myself (got into PC pinball about a year ago), Pinball FX is what got me hooked and it's my most played of all the pinball games but I've also gotten a lot of enjoyment out of The Pinball Arcade (though its a bit dated) and Zaccaria Pinball, if you're looking for more great games! Looking forward to the coming vids!
@JeffersonRedeyes5 күн бұрын
I have both those games. I haven't dug into Zaccaria too much and Pinball Arcade doesn't run right and I haven't tried to fix it, it runs waaayyyy too slow right now. I'll eventually get around to figuring out but the Williams block of tutorial is probably going to take the better part of 6 months and for some stupid reason I'm thinking of making a "and the rest of the tables" follow up to the 2 million player video because stitching together a video with 50 different tables wasn't hard enough... might as well do what 77 more tables I don't know that well.... ugh. Thanks for the complements, I try to say something interesting about each table before diving into the game mechanics either to give context for the table for new players or so experts have something worth watching since they probably already know the tables better than I do. I have access to Stern's Jurassic Park and Godzilla tables in my local mall so I will probably get around to looking at Pinball Arcade and Stern's Pinball arcade a little closer but I don't think either of those products are getting updated anymore so I'm not in a rush.

Great video thank you very much. I currently play with a switch, which I know is not the right hardware. I need to get something better trying to decide console or computer. If I may ask, what do you play on? What is your computer system? Configuration? Thanks very much really enjoying it. Keep up the great work.
@JeffersonRedeyes6 күн бұрын
I pretty much only play PC nowadays. There is just too much of a benefit to owning a PC over any console and given that I need a decent PC for video editing, script writing, learning game design with a game engine like Godot or Unreal 5 it makes sense to save my money on consoles and focus on getting the best PC I can because a good gaming PC can handle doing all of those other things. I am currently running a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor with 16 gigs of ram. My PC cost about $2,000 close to two years ago and that's generally what you want to shoot for cost-wise because you're not looking for top of the line but you want something that will last about 5 years before it needs replacing, Steam game sales are frequent and there is a library of thousands of games to pick from on PC and since both Microsoft and Sony are focused on the PC market many of those formerly exclusive games are available now as well. There is no wrong way to play pinball but if there was, the underpowered Switch would probably be it. I regularly get my butt handed to me by a PS5 player but he is legitimately one of the best players in the world. He also complains about the lack of table sales on the console which is how I know Steam is the best version price-wise.

Thanks for the response, that’s why I’m thinking of building a PC also for gaming. My computers are just pretty much normal productivity speed. What GPU are you using? And are you playing at 60 Hz or 120? 4K? Thanks again really appreciate it.

I’ve been addicted to this game since I got it last week lol biggest pull I’ve got so far was a $2k card out of one of the rare purple packs
@JeffersonRedeyes8 күн бұрын
The pull rates are pretty basic, it's mostly random dumb luck and the card packs don't matter too much unless you are hunting for a specific foil card.
@RRalosky218 күн бұрын
@@JeffersonRedeyes that’s good to know man, makes me wonder if there are any good mods out there that can make the more rare packs result in better pulls
@JeffersonRedeyes8 күн бұрын
@@RRalosky21 the only way a mod like that would work for me is if the mod followed actual pack-in rules like MTG card boxes where you are guaranteed a certain number of specific rarities per box but that would require the game to track each individual pack which I seriously doubt it does as the results of any given pull are generated when you open the pack.

Cool. Fortunately, just because my name is David, I picked House Davion to focus on but that didn’t stopped me from getting almost wiped out and going nearly totally broke 3 times. But it made it easier to bounce back and I’ve managed to finish the first campaign and Heroes of the Inner Sphere without save scumming even once which helped immersion and reward. I disagree with your friend, I think it’s an absolutely beautiful game made by passionate enthusiasts at a time when so many big games are being made by mistreated corporate drones.

So, the reason that Nintendo went for Patent Game Mechanics is because they have already managed to win (with an Out of Court Settlement of $30 million) a suit against Colasi in 2018 using Patent arguments. Nintendo just kept raising the amount they were suing for, until Colasi was willing to settle out of court. Also, check out Upper Echelon's video on his take on the case, it's pretty good: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gKrck4yOa6mDfMk

I am new here and I want to get PinballFX. I have saved up planning to buy all the DLC tables. Now because I didn't own the previous game PinballFX3 and this next one is my first one, if I purchased all the DLC's and threre are updated patches for the tables, do I have to rebuy them over again?
@JeffersonRedeyes24 күн бұрын
One you buy a table you own it. The same was true of previous Pinball FX games as well, even if you own the table and Pinball FX loses the license to sell more of that specific table you own you still get to keep that table. I want to say the Pinball FX 3 Archer table isn't available anymore but since I already own it I will always own it and PinballWizard35b still owns all of the tables he's ever bought for every version of Pinball FX so you don't have to worry about paying twice.

How does doing a non authentic character in videos work with being the most authentic person? I'd assume a person with high levels of authenticity. Would always be who their authentic self is and never not that authentic self. Regularly playing a caricature of a person for views. Would have to lower ones authenticity , no? Maybe my logic is faulty.

If you're talking about Zen Original tables like the new Goat Simulator table the display is a normal graphic interface which often plays related scenes from Goat Simulator 3, I have a review and tutorial coming out in 15 minutes for that table. If you are talking about anything in the Williams collection the reason those DMD displays are not updated is because they are as faithful recreations as possible. Not only are they trying to recreate accurate physics and sounds from the real machines but that also means recreating the DMD display faithfully. Sometimes this isn't possible with copyrighted music as Party Zone and Creature from the Black Lagoon are missing a lot of the music the real tables featured and sometimes the artwork needs to change, I believe Uncle Fester needed to be changed on the Addam's Family backglass because of likeness rights. The Williams tables are a great preservation and representation of the real world tables that exist and you can actually see the rapid evolution of pinball in the 90's by recognizing new features like color DMDs or two-level playfields and magnasave which were introduced in 1980 in the original Black Knight table. Black Knight 2000, the sequel is one of the table I expect to see in the next Williams Collection 3 pack. For real tables accuracy is the most important thing which is why the DMD remains unchanged.

Absolutely phenomenal game, I will be returning to see what else is in store. I never expected to draw Mario or Link from a reference and there is a ton of actually useful information about how pixels are perceived by the viewer and it's all done in a way anyone should be able to comprehend. When I get to the pinball it's not going to be about the physics, it's the underlying principles of how to build a pinball machine and showcasing how the sprites the player is drawing can be utilized in game creation which will help the player understand that they will eventually be capable of making an entire game on their own. Eventually I want to build my own pinball IDLE game and I also want to build a JRPG with a strong but sneaky focus on education by using various quizzes to grant bonus modifiers like doing 10 simple 1 digit addition problems for a minor damage boost that increases as the difficulty of the problems increase or by having the player solve geometry problems while crafting for a bonus multiplier to resource generation or even having multiple kingdoms that speak different real languages with a series of language primers allowing the player to gain access to unique materials if they can learn how to communicate with the locals. Video games have an astounding potential as educational material, I believe i owe my own love of trivia to brute forcing my way into Leisure Suit Larry as a teen by memorizing all of the answers to the "adult" trivia that acted as an age gate. Unfortunately most attempts at educational software are hamfisted like MathBlasters making the education the primary focus instead of creating an interesting game kids would want to play first and foremost and then implementing the educational stuff as something the player would want to engage in because it enhances their ability to enjoy the game part of the game by imparting more power to the player. Pixel Art Academy has managed to blur the lines between game and education in exactly the way I believe it needs to be blurred to be engaging enough to be an effective educational tool. I apologize for the wall of text but I am quite impressed and I'll probably use this as the framework of a stand alone review since this is exactly what I want to see more developers do with educational software. I believe we need alternate forms of easily accessible education and we need it yesterday because the school system isn't keeping up but that's an entirely different conversation. I do want to end by thanking you because I have already learned something new and I will continue learning new things and that's worth much more than the price of entry.

@@JeffersonRedeyes I should also mention, the instructions for the Pinball project were planned to be much more elaborate, with references of real pinball tables and such, so you actually get an idea how other pre- and post-war machines did things. I can def relate to the Larry trivia problems. :D

@@Retronator The games worth buying get post launch support and I expect single dev indie projects to move along slowly. I would love to see the additional information make it's way into the game eventually, I watch the 4 part "history of pinball a lot" as I familiarize myself with the table to make guides. One of my viewers just hit 2nd place on FX Bride of Pinbot with 2 billionare's clubs today and I know I can do 3 to beat him. I'll keep learning to draw pixels and I'll make a point of highlighting Pixel Art Academy in my table guides. I'm about to go back to work on scripting guides for all of the Williams tables now that I started hitting wizard modes all of a sudden last week and started actively hunting the backglass awards for doing so because all of a sudden that's a thing I can do now. I'm probably going to try drawing mario on stream in a few hours. I have an off stream save game where I drew Link instead. I'm very interested in seeing how the lessons progress and looking back through the devlogs to see how this all came into existence. .
