This is a lovely four strain march without a bombastic dogfight that quietly fades at the end. A perfect performance. I love it

love souza..great playing...here in bay area california the community bands are soooo terrible...they have no idea what good band music is and they have the most terrible conductors that only show up to get paid...the conductors actually let the players decide who will play first or second on which piece..which is funny because those players, although they do much work in the band such as putting the folders together and advertising concerts,,are totally terrible and have no idea how to play music, but for some reason, the conductors trust them to run the sections...that is why the bands here are hoplessly medicore

I can't imagine just randomly dragging people you don't know at all, totally unprompted, for no reason.

You can count on Sousa to write a good tune. But it also needs a good orchestra / band like this one to play it well.

Not really just needs some woodshedding. I haven't played this piece since 2002 and I still have it memorized. probably because I drilled it lol

here for the rhythm in beginning, that's so confusing
@gavinburns3574 Жыл бұрын
I have it as my part for my high school band. It’s a 2:3 polyrhythm but it’s rlly slow so I just count “1 2 + 3” over and over again lol. 1 2 3 is on A and 1 and the “and” of 2 is on a D. But we are only doing movement 2 so the very beginning I haven’t done
@hannahlennertkristiansen4797 Жыл бұрын
@@gavinburns3574 yes, this polyrhythm is hard, and there's a really great video about it that brought me here

@@hannahlennertkristiansen4797 Mostly just some 'hot cup of tea' play. And if it is too gnarly, it also says, if memory serves, ad lib
