The one minigame where I put down the controller and let the AI win. EDIT: Since making this comment I have been stuck at Boating School, trying to score high enough in this minigame to progress. I have figured out a strategy: Literally don't move. The AI on Smart will almost always intercept you whenever you try to knock someone off. But, if you just sit at your spawn location, they won't really try to do anything to you except occasionally bump into you. So just let the AI fight until they are on the edge of the arena, and then hit them off. They'll be too occupied with fighting each other to go after you when you try to come in for the kill (the kill). With that, I finally scored enough to proceed. Playing good also helps.

The visual jump when you swapped to PS2 over Gamecube in the original recordings is nuts, what in the world is wrong with the graphics in the Gamecube version?

Mostly due to hardware limitations. Most games on PS2 look and work better than the Gamecube version. This game is an example. The Gamecube version has no bloom, low textures and no screen filter (e.g. screen wave in Alaskan Belly Trouble)

That’s true, however it also just seems like a rush job in some spots, specifically I noticed some stiff cutscene animations, animation bugs in game occasionally, audio desync in one particular cutscene, and infamously the ending has no audio on the NTSC build. Something clearly went wrong behind the scenes, it functions but the presentation even for Gamecube standards is really bad.
