pretty sweet looking bike. As a large man in his 40s, would something like this make a good first bike? Experience is limited to pedal bikes throughout my life and 15 minutes of seat time on a 4-wheel atv 20 years ago. Looking at joining an MSF class in a few weeks. My best estimate is that me on this would have a power to weight ratio similar to a 130-140 lb rider on a CB500...

It’s not an ideal first motorcycle, but I’m not gonna say that it couldn’t be… I would definitely recommend taking a riding course and getting some practice on their bikes before spending this much money, but a person’s willingness to be taught, desire to learn, and overall maturity all play into what could work as a first Bike. I wish you nothing but the best and welcome to life on 2 wheels 🤙😎

Great video! I love the cutaways to the engine, cool photos, etc. I’ll suggest 2 things that would be great as a viewer. Your photos are filtered/color corrected. Do the same thing on the video! It would be great to see those colors POP. It would also be great to see some voiceover on the riding portion of the video. That’ll help it feel like more of an *entertainment video* as opposed to an *enthusiast walk around* if that makes sense. Anyways, great video! Can’t wait to see this channel grow

Had a brand new 2023 XP1000 Premium General. Its a rattle box. Things rattled underneath with 15 miles on it. Then the rattles and squeeks got worse as I used it. Suspension is aweful. Super rigid, even with the clickers set to full soft. Tried removing the sway bars but it just wallowed in the corners too much. The motor is excellent, lots of horsepower but very loud. Cant have a conversation with a passenger at 20 miles per hour. The seats were pretty comfortable. I traded in the General with 200 miles on it and bought a 2024 Ranger XP1000. Much better machine, much bigger bed, quieter engine and no ugly clanks or squeeks while your riding. The suspension is much more comfortable on the trails....and about $7K cheaper.

Once the T7 World Raid in available in the US KTM will sell 50% less 890/790/Norden bikes than they are right now. The T7 has already taken a chunk of their business (as do all the others on the market now), the World Raid will hit them even harder in the US market. I am a KTM fan (PM), I have two (1290 SAR & TE150i) , but man do they suck as some things. I had the LC8C, and would not do it again, if I needed a mid-weight ADV, its a T7, hands down. Maybe the world raid will be here if that time comes to make that decision.

I know there is a lot of negativity around KTM right now regarding the 790/890 cams… and it’s definitely hurting KTM’s reputation. However, I just got back from doing the Washington BDR & Oregon BDR on my 890 Adventure R… there is not one single bike in production today that I would rather do that trip on. I have my bike being looked at as I write this regarding the cams. I believe that KTM is on the verge of issuing a recall. We are seeing several service bulletins addressing the reimbursement of customers who’ve experienced this failure.

Yes it's a very nice bike with a superb suspension, however until KTM and their shareholder overlords address not only the typical KTM reliability issues but also fully take on the shitty camshaft failures that some customers of these very "premium" priced motorcycles must endure, the brand will be tarnished. The Pierer Mobility group refuse to admit culpability amongst their recent financial dilemma which would more than likely put them even further in the red. There is no excuse for a cam or cam follower failure with the technology we have these days. It's either a metallurgical issue or it's an oiling issue, either way it shouldn't be happening. The LC8C engine has a problem and as an owner of one, I think about it every time I hit the starter button. I wonder if it will start, I wonder if it will strand me far from home, I wonder where the closest dealer is at all times. That's just the mechanical side, we also must address the other elephant in the room ... The infamous KTM electronic glitches that also leave many stranded . Weather it's a fairly new bike with a faulty battery or an immobilizer for some every mile is a roll of the dice. How about having a 450 ish pound "premium" bike with shitty ball bearings in the steering neck instead of industry standard tapered roller bearings. The LC8C Chineesium engine made by CF Moto is a classic example of trying to appease shareholders while not valuing the loyal customer base. I am not a KTM hater, being the owner of my second Norden 901 ( now an Expedition ) and the previous owner of a few KTM's I can honestly say the juice is not worth the squeeze until the corporation starts putting value in my loyalty. So yes KTM will heavily discount the leftovers to make room for the next crop of over priced units, I say don't spend the extra money on this bike, buy the Adventure r and save the difference for when the cams take a shit.

@@SPENJERE I completely understand the frustration regarding this topic and I do believe that KTM is on the verge of taking full responsibility for it. At the dealership level we are seeing Service bulletins that are explaining how to go about reimbursing customers who have experienced this problem. I have my bike in the shop as I write this getting an early inspection done (trying to stay out ahead of it. I just got back from doing the Oregon and Washington BDR’s back to back. There is no doubt an issue regarding cams and it is tarnishing reputation for sure…. All that being said, there is no other adventure bike that I would choose over a KTM to attack off-road terrain. I appreciate your well thought out comments and wish you nothing but the best brother 😎🤙

@@Work2Liv_Liv2Ride welltoday I just did the fifth oil change on my 901, that’s 10,252 miles for five oil changes. And I’m still picking what looks to be Ferous based particles almost like threads off the magnets. It has to be a manufacturing issue on these engines. It’s just too bad they have gone with a Chinese company, I would’ve gladly paid even more for the very overpriced 901 expedition to have a little more peace of mind.

Bravo for your superb comments on this matter. You addressed all the exact issues that are ruining KTM'S reputation. I for one have been on the edge to pull the trigger on a Norden Expedition, but have been on hold for all the reasons you mentioned here. I keep putting it off till "next" year and wait and see. However, this Chinese partnership with CF is turning out to be a monumental disaster of which KTM is unlikely to recover. Again very well written comment and I along with many other KTM fans appreciate very much. KTM should listen to this man. 👍

Ive got a 2024 RALLY , it's brand new and not even run-in yet.., and apart from me already buying a whole complete replacement top-end (including camshafts etc) as a backup to avoid the lengthy 3-4 month wait for parts (in case my bikes camshafts failed on a RTW trip) .., This bikes already failed me, before Ive left for my trip. Currently my bike is at KTM , because it is DEAD with a red immobiliser fault banner displayed on the TFT , everything has been checked , (computer / imobiliser / fuses / etc ) and all KTM's computer so far can list is an EARTH FAULT, the search for the fault continues. Im not having a rant, it is what it is, the KTM team have been great and are doing their best to fix it for me, and i don't fault them in any way. In hindsight though, I wished I never bought this bike, unfortunatly I did so before i knew about the camshaft problem., so I now have to 'suck it up and run with it'

Nice bike. I have a blue 2005 FJR1300 ABS that I picked up for 3K with 62K miles. I'm 68 and love it! BTW I have a channel here and if you want it to grow you need to do quite a few things to get YT to promote it. One thing I would recommend to you is add more 2 to 5 keyword groups to your channel tags and add video tags that will match some of the first 200 characters in your description. (Keyword total should be in the 470ish total characters max) Your uploaded video file name should have some keywords in it too! Ken in So, CA Subscribed : )

I have to pitch in here since I've been riding on this beauty for over two months now. Recall has been resolved very quickly for me since I am using it for work commute, which means I got brand new aftermarket tire that is covered by Suzuki + I'll be getting new tires that are going to be new "OE" Tire for free as well once that is resolved. I went for Michelin Anakee Adventure tire. This bike is absolute beast, I've used "B" Mode for riding for awhile till I broke in first 500 miles, then once I was able to rev in till 7k RPM, that A mode is like using Nitrous on a car. This bike is FAST, and so much fun around twisties. Brakes are amazing, which brings me to suspension issue that I've noticed - when braking hard forks drop down a lot and gets this clunk that seems like they bottomed out - which they did not? Weird issue, but after that first hard break, it doesn't happen again. Which makes me think that I need to adjust the front suspension just a notch so it's not as soft. Out of all things, I bought this bike cuz I am very tall and heavy man and this bike is the most comfortable bike out there (CFMoto ibex800 would be second on the list). I've bought directly from Italy GIVI Airflow Windscreen and now Highway riding is a breeze instead of wind slapping contest. And lastly, I love how quit the exhaust is at cruising speed so that my Tinnitus doesn't get worse and worse. (Yes I am using earplugs as well). Overall, I've tried 6/7 different bikes, and this is 100% the best bike on the market in ADV segment. If you want to do serious mudtrails and sand, get yourself proper light bike for that. So yeah, Tenere is not even a second option, Transalp would take that spot!
@Work2Liv_Liv2Ride
@Work2Liv_Liv2Ride Ай бұрын
I agree with you that this is a fantastic motorcycle, but best bike in the segment is a bold statement. If your version of adventure is mostly road and occasional gravel... than yes, it's one of the best options for that. If your adventures are more off-road oriented (like mine are) I'm choosing my KTM 890 R or the T7 :)
