Unreal that there was no cushioning on a literal concrete culvert and massive boulders located directly in the path of a falling rider on the outside of a high speed turn

The number of separate riders slipping during the corner was high, suggesting it was deceptively slippy. Horrible to see riders crash across concrete in that ditch : I'm no pro, but that looks like weak safety. Surely a ditch with concrete should have been barriered off?

Special mention to Steven Kruijswijk for going around checking on other teams' riders, removing bikes from on top of riders and trying to bring a bit of calm.. Well done!

I was watching this live and for a moment I wasn't sure what was happening. Hoping for the speedy recovery of those taken to the hospital. thank you for sharing
