Skunk hollow is just the access point. The trail name is the South Fork American River Trail, SFART. The plaque right next to the bridge acknowledges the support from the community that help make it happen.

I don’t get why, when you’re not from the area you don’t pay to park

On my wishlist to check out someday! I lived in Ferndale for a couple years as a kid, always wanted to go back. They filmed Outbreak in Ferndale which is 28 miles south of here =)

That trail looks more like XC.

Yes Marin is where it all started, but not in Novato and not on this trail. Move on to Mt Tam and China Camp, and visit the Fairfax Mountain Bike Museum to get closer to the real experience and history. So happy you love this sport, as I am a 70 year old native Maronite who has been enjoying this sport in Marin for over 55 years. Keep on discovering!

Spring is the best time to ride Lake Tabeaud! The grass is bright green and the wildflowers are super bright, especially the Upper Standard.

Tuttletown, not Turtletown. Anyways, that section has a lot of short trails, one with a few decent switchback. Blues I think, maybe greens. Use the pavement to link them together for some good cardio. Tower Climb. If I remember right from the trailbuilders, was designated black from a fitness level. Remember, it is a multi-use trail so jumps, drops, etc is completely irrelevant. Try riding it reverse if what you did. Remember the name, Tower CLIMB. Still, good video. Go back in the spring when flowers bloom. Beautiful. The fire messed things up but still a good ride

I grew up most of my childhood there and didn't most of that information. I do remember the oil spills though they made beach trips horrible. Great video.👍

I live and ride mostly in the south Santa Clara valley. One of the most common problems riding the trails bike paths is “Goat Head” thorns (long spikes with a head). My solution that I’ve found successful is thorn strips (between the tire and tube) and Slime. Works for me. I haven’t had a trail flat since.
@MTBTrailHunter Жыл бұрын
Since, I have added Cush Core. This is the ultimate protection from flats. In fact you could ride without any air at all if needed to get back to your vehicle. Pain to install, but haven’t had a flat since!

The county dirt road from the Newell area to Goose Lake is real backcountry. A.k.a., Clear Lake Reservoir Rd or state road 136...highly recommended. Just south of the Oregon border and real remote. Btw, I'd sure be carrying a firearm, if not for rowdies, for dogs, coyotes, and cougars.

Dennis I'm rewatching some of these rides... your bear story reminds me, last year I almost hit a bear cub coming around a blind corner on the Foresthill Divide trail in Auburn. I mean "almost hit" as in "narrowly missed" it because it moved off the trail in a split second. When I say bear cub I mean like a few months old "where's Mom?" as the second thought in your head after "holy S#!+". So you don't have to be as far north as you were to have a bear scare : )

Grew up in Weaverville and never hit the trails cuz I wasn't into biking. Now I'm back in the area as an adult, and had no idea about those trails. Can't wait to shred 🤙

Yeah I'm honestly a bit bummed by this one....there's a pretty fun single track pretty much all the way around the lake. Some "legal" some not. This was my home ride pretty much daily. I would be happy to go with you again and show you the rest sometime. I'm in Roseville now, but still ride that area often.

I live in Modesto and would like to know where this ripin ripon place is at
@MTBTrailHunter2 жыл бұрын
If your headed north on 99, cross the river into Ripon and take the first exit (Chevron gas station). Make 2 quick rights (almost a u-turn). Head to the end of the street. straight ahead is a small parking lot. Park there and head on to the trail... it runs along the river on both sides of the freeway.

Where is this exactly an Ripon ???

This is a local trail system for me. The hole in the gate isn’t a secret lol. A lot of riders will park at Jenson USA bike shop and ride to that hole and ride to some of the trails within sycamore. Yeah it can get a little confusing on where each trail starts or how to get to them, even with Trailforks. If you are ever back in town, there is a group called Team Dirty Works that rides that area almost every Saturday or Sunday. Unless they post otherwise on Facebook. Great group and they can show you some great sections.

I've got a house about 10 from that pay gate. Be sure to watch out for snakes. My neighbors have been finding a lot of them this year in their yards.

I was thinking about checking this place out. Do you think it’s worth it or should I just stick with exchequer? I haven’t ridden to many areas so any other reccomendations I would appreciate it
@MTBTrailHunter2 жыл бұрын
Exchequer is a great place to ride. I like to mix things up and find alternatives and go exploring. Red Hills is another option. Trailforks is also a good free tool you can use on a desktop PC to find other trail options depending on where you are traveling from or to. I hope this helps.
