All the midge patterns look the same, hard to believe it makes a difference. Same thing generally. Now a caddis and a mayfly only vary by the angle of the wing, and often even hardly that, compared to the old days when there were delta wing caddises, and say a Jorgenson cut wing with an extended body.

Excellent video giving us insight to the history of this unique, extraordinary fly fishing shop! I am anxious to order Pat Dorsey’s book. Being a fly fishing guide requires much physical stamina but also patience to teach this skill. Both Dennis and Chris Steinbeck have excellent reviews just doing what they love and all the while enjoying God’s beautiful creation. Thank you for post this video 🙂

I have been a fly fisherman for over 55 years and here in Colorado the last 5 years. Pat Dorsey's Fly Fishing Guide to the South Platte River is the most valuable fly fishing book I ever read!

The Bible states in John to the Romans … “ for the minions of Satan shall cast the mop fly and the shall catch and release thine brook and rainbows .” Amen as trump is our savior so shall it be the the mop fly will be thy tool for the demon trout . 🙏🏿

Blue Quill Angler, I knew the reason, just thought I’d let you know. I’ll take a look to see what I was looking for, specifically the tailing material. Thanks! 🎣

Great tie Pat! Have yet to find success with this fly but I haven’t come across a full-on midge hatch yet either. Thanks for sharing! 🎣 BTW, what whip finisher do you have here?

Pat does it have to be grizzly or can you use Dun instead?

I see there is not any ribbing used. Is it durable? Can you add a rib?
@thebluequillangler7842
@thebluequillangler7842 2 жыл бұрын
Adding a rib is always an option to increase the durability of a fly. Because the body of this fly is dubbing, it should hold up pretty well - a feather body cna tend to be a bit more delicate and require ribbing to prolong the life of the fly. Thanks for watching!
