Great discussion. I'm overwhelmed by the masterpieces madness, but I'm also excited like I was when 2018 came out. The checklist would make a great epack achievement (maybe for completing a base set). Should be easy to get because nobody would want to work hard just for a checklist, but it would be a nice fun thing they could do.

Collectors spend excessive amounts of money on achievement cards because of both their aesthetic value and because they are hard to get (rarity). This makes the collector an investor in my opinion. A collector IS an investor as they pursue rarity. They appreciate their collections for both reasons. Not mutually exclusive. Totally inter-twined.

@MarvelCardCollectorsPodcast The dramatic rise and peak of flipping and greedy hoard-like investing behaviors done purely for profit also has made us want to disassociate ourselves from the term "investing". Damage was done to the hobby by those types of people. But most of us hope our collecting efforts will prove to be of value to someone we care for down the line, or that we can sell off our stuff in time to pass on revenues to a family member i.e. that our investment was worth it. We all want this formula: "joy" + "relinquish value" -"cost" to come up as greater than zero.

Keep the sunday streams going!....personally a big fan of the FUW ex century credentials. Would have been cool to have a marvel/wolverine themed name for the insert as opposed to the legacy branding word salad from the sports world. Do you think calling it "ex century credentials bla bla" helps or hurts the appeal of what are very attractive inserts in the FUW set?

I dont know what fanatics approach is to sport but get the sense i will be seeing a lot more marvel product in stores next year. I think thats an overall good thing for the hobby but i dont know if ill be chasing any of the new sets based on the chrome release. I even ended up souring on platinum eventually, the parallel chase just became overwhelming and i started asking myself, why do i need this?

Great episode. Hope Keith's idea really takes off....very interested to see pop counts archived, I've done that myself a bit so I can say BS if PSA ever starts handing out 10s for condition sensitive cards from the 90s that are sub 10% gem rate currently

Everything's a cashgrab, upper deck is a business...sucks that they flood the market and are EXTRA sloppy as the license runs out, but that's to be expected for as long as there is cash to be grabbed....but to call one recent UD release a cashgrab and another not at this point in time seems biased. FUW uses the same art for more than one insert set in a couple cases that ive seen lol. Unless u can tell me for certain that one set was rushed more/less than another, its just opinion

Loved the bit about the obscure characters in MM. Karnak by Bianchi is my fav art from 2018 and I think it's Grey Gargoyle from DP 2020, Deathbird from Dan Dos Santos 2022. Shana The She Devil is my pick for 2016. It would make my life to see some of the paintings in person one day. ✌

digitally purchased games are handled in a similar fashion in guess? . you don’t own the game, you just have a licensee to play it …and it can be revoked at any time
