China is close to complete societal and financial collapse. Chinese products are tofu dreg, poorly copied, or badly made - and conceivably all three. It's military looks good from far, but it is far from good - as are its military "assets". The Chinese people have stopped spending, and traveling, because they can afford neither. And the deflation seems set to escalate, with fresh produce rotting rather than selling. Dare I say it: Not the sorts of things which makes an economy or a country great.

American capitalism creates a greed in people that becomes uncrtollable. These people are not Americans they are opportunists sucking money from every hard working American.

you really needed to go into a BRICS history? Let's stay real? Right Now, they are all about using each others currency. This makes each country stronger. The more they trade within BRICS will raise the value of their Currency. They put out a fake money that is worth NOTHING. Nothing but talk.

Washinton's retreat from WHO shall be leveraged by China. China will try to win the trust of global South by increasing its share in WHO, and it may use the platform to push it's strategic interests in the name of multilateralism. Washington's retreat would be fatal for itself in longrun.

Misspoke and said Andrew Jackson instead of Andrew Johnson at around 8:30. Obvious what you meant, but had to back it up. Appreciated this little review from high school! It suggests by simply laying out the history succinctly how fatuous are current third-party fantasies, at least until one or both of the major parties reach a breaking point.

What a great video! Very informative and thought provoking! I found it to be a great analysis of theories and their implications within I.R. and the real world. :) On another note; Do you think Ostrom's debate is more applicable to Tuvalu's legal issues with redefining sovereignty? Thank you.

Born 1955 May 3th in Rotterdam with my Bandung born father, I feel that the spirit of Bandung Conference has been implanted in my genes. Liberation from the shackles of the West's Settler Colonialism are still needed. I hope that the BRICS initiatives generate true Emancipation that let Families all over the world live in Peace and Prosperity (with proper water and food). May 'the West' and 'the Rest' be dominated by Love and Wisdom and not by Dollars and Weapons.

China’s Manufacturing Supremacy is what's killing China's economy! It's a fallacy? Faulty and conceptually not-well-thought-out concept! (1.) China? world's factory? 1.4 billion people in China telling the rest of the developing world? De-industrialize or don't even start? You can just go into deeper & deeper $debt buying my cheap crap? And continue in your place of supplier of raw materials as China continues to $corrupt your leaders and further impoverishes you? Am quite sure developing countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa are thrilled/overjoyed @ the prospect of trading in/up? Their western yoke for a Chinese one!

I think you are being far too generous to the West. The West was never about a "liberal international order." The West did/does almost everything that China has been accused of doing. The West rigged the system and habitually violated the rules when it found them inconvenient. China is not a threat to the established order, but it needs to be accommodated. That is the real problem - the West is trying to keep China down and controlled and subservient. That won't work anymore. But China wants the existing order to work - it has done well by it and it really wants to do business with other states. Note, too, that it is the US that is trying to blow up the order and undermine its institutions as the US loses the game with China.

The high cost based is main reason why America cannot continue to dominate manufacturing, compared to Asia and China of course. Outside America, especially in Asia, most people don't pay rent, low or virtually free education, healthcare, low income taxes and China also not pay annual vehicle taxes. You buy it, you own and use it. With this very low cost base, that's why the Chinese / Asian can still live very well even with half or less than an American salary. With this structural disadvantages, is why Asia manufacturing costs are so much lower than America.
@cooper181922 күн бұрын
While generally got China right, the move for many developed economies to offshore manufacturing started in 1970s, that spur the Asian economic Tigers (S Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore), which China started to copy from 1980s. And the reason for China's dominance for manufacturing because of their local 1.4 billion, more than 4x of US population. Most of the manufacturing outputs, EVs, solar, machineries are for local Chinese market, only 18% out China GDP is exports, so it is the huge Chinese market, which many foreign & American companies' key market for sales & profits. Key reason missed is America's move towards Software, Digital & Investments, just look at richest people in America over the decades and could easily see the change of direction (lagging signs) from oil, to manufacturing, then retail (Walmart), then Investment (Warren), Software (Microsoft, Oracle) and now (Big Tech). What's missing is how China in 2010 was still very backwards, highly corrupted, low value manufacturing to powerhouse today? Its thanks to America. Bush ask Hu to help during 2008 for Financial crisis, where China poured $1.7 trillion into infrastructure (America gave $900 billion to bankers). That's how in a decade, 2018, China's infrastructure (highways, ports, airports, high speed trains, EVs, solar, dams, property, etc) became so good, that has spare change for Belt & Road (BRI) for their neighbours. Should look at the wider picture and is easy to see how America can catch-up... just invest in itself.

This was a great overview of legislative process in CA! I’ve attended many bill committee hearings and floor sessions in Sacramento. Unfortunately, with the Democrat supermajority some bills proposed by Republicans don’t even get a hearing as all the chairs are held by Democrats who decide which bills get a hearing. I always thought this to be wrong as Republicans are elected by the people and the bills they propose reflect the will of the people from that district. Just like the presentation mentioned, often times the legislators vote based on the party affiliation. I wish there was more critical thinking in Sacramento. Overall, a great presentation! Thank you!

This man said nothing new. This story is like 3-4 years ago. And completely the Western narrative point of view. Westerners will never understand how China rose from the ashes. There is no term for it in the West. But the closes term is GRIT. China didn't steal 5G. There is no such thing as force transfer. The West wanted in on the Chinese market of 1 billion. I could go on and on. But you can't debate with stupid. Americans can't even put a fire out next to the ocean.
