What's holding the ice up? Are the stadiums built on a lake?

The whole game Churla was put on the ice to hurt Bure. Running him every chance. Bure had a vicious temper and had had enough.

The best part was that although Bure got fined for this, it was as minimally as possible. Basically, "you technically shouldn't have done that...but we don't care."

I became so happy for Panthers & sad for Oilers as both of my favorite teams were in Stanley Cup for 2024, and I became very glad for Matthew Tkachuk winning the cup!

A bad part is the color guy. What an idiot. Trying to make a case for what McSorely did. Asshole to the first degree. We actually had a long radio discussion here after it happened. The idiot color man was always the first to be mentioned.

He would get suspended for life if he did that now. Almost be worth it. But as everyone's saying, enough was enough. And while Pavel wasn't the tallest guy on the ice, he was built like a brick shit house. And he put everyone ounce of weight and strength he had into that elbow. Yeah, he could've hurt the guy, but on the bright side we're still talking about it 20+ years later, and it was one hell of a solid elbow to the guys melon. Edit: Now I remember this series more clearly. The Stars just kicked the crap out of Bure every chance they got. It was f'ing nasty at times.

I remember this game so well . Dallas had really made it a priority to put the hurt on Bure somehow. The runs at him had been so obvious. Pavel was a really strong , and built player. Many fans wouldn’t realize just how strong he was. He was not going to be abused and decided to make a statement about that - and boy did he ever. It was very obvious to me that Churla was going to have a significant concussion from that elbow. It landed so clean. The force of it took booth players off their feet. A hit like that could end a players career. It’s wild that he didn’t get suspended for that. I guess the NHL put TV ratings before player safety on that one. Living in Vancouver, I remember the local radio station C- FOX had some clowns who mercilessly mocked Churla as a baby for complaining about the hit in the media . Even as a diehard canucks fan, I thought they really crossed the line with that and never forgot it. I knew from playing hockey all my life that concussions can be a serious business and some guys are never quite the same afterwards. I don’t know if that was the case with Churla but it wouldn’t surprise me.

The fans literally singing the national anthem toward the end of the game is something we will never hear again, and that makes me sad. Globalism has ruined national pride.

Never forget going downtown Vancouver during the Olympics. Nothing like it. Nothing like the hockey during the Olympics 2010. Crosby prime, Ovechkin prime, competitiveness like you've never seen before, heart and soul into the game for every team like you've never seen. You'll never see players play like they do for their own country and 2010 was one of the best.

Salo had such a good slapshot and was just all around a solid defenseman. His only real downside was being injury-prone. It's actually crazy to think of how good the Canucks defense roster was back in their prime compared to currently. In 2011 - Salo, Mitchell, Edler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Ehrhoff... all top tier defenseman at the time... compared to now we have Hughes, I guess Hronek.. and everyone else is barely average at best.
