Deuter suggests these can handle "medium loads". I'd say 40-50 pounds, no problem at all.

Nah. Sea to summit 8 or 13L compression sack in a contractor bag, along with anything else you wanna keep dry.

I use an Ariel 75 from the same era of Osprey, and haven't had one complaint other than the hip pockets. Mine has a whistle tho 😅

Great jacket, it’s my favorite soft shell that I own. Perfect weight, nice cut, great pockets, and an excellent hood. I wish it was still available, I’d buy another one if I could.

I love my Col -20, but I've never tried the CWM -40. If it's like my other Marmot bags, I'm sure it will be plenty warm!

Yeah in those deadly temperatures you are better safe than sorry! If you goof and it doesn’t work as you expected or a much colder weather system moves in than expected it might be the last sunset you see. I know weight and volume can be an issue but have laying options. And bring Mylar emergency blankets for extra insulation just in case. You can always remove layers or vent the bag a little if you start to over heat. But if you’re using all your equipment and you’re still losing the heat fight there’s nothing you can do about it. Especially if there’s no fuel for a fire or means to build a snow cave or something. Where you headed anyways? The Arctic Circle? Or above 20,000 feet?

Just bought BY down jacket...super for skiing in the high alps. Just had a base layer underneath at 2500m in Morzine. Totally wind proof. Love it. External pockets for gloves were very handy.

I just bought X 80+15, and figured out that there is some internal plate inside the backpack, on the side closer to a man. When you press this plate it bends, but quite strangely. Is it normal or a bug?
