I cant tell you how wonderful this video is. I was born in Chesterfield in 1967 but moved in 1991, to Worcestershire. How I miss the town as it was, walking around the market with my grandma (market traders used to flirt madly with her!), and tripping on the cobbles in high heels as a teen. Chesterfield was a great place to live, and it probably still is. Thank you so much for this walk down memory lane :))

Wow fantastic quality film. So little video is left off the castle class this is amazingly helpful for modellers like me. Thanks for uploading.
I’ve never understood the appeal of those old tanks, I remember steam trains in service in the early 60’s somewhere in the UK, unsure where, might have been in 1962 when my late mother was expecting, couldn’t stand that chocking cloud of smoke, electric and diesel trains were much nicer and cleaner to travel in.

The narrator should have learned how to pronounce place names. It's not Gat Hurst, it's Gathurst, as in thirsty. Good video though.

I once did it in the 1970’s at Langar Airfield in Nottingham, no memory of the aircraft, basic one-day training and the jump 😳.

Ah the romance from a by gone era, where today in the modern world, the airline industry has its problems after COVID, may not be a safe place to travel with bits falling off aircraft and crashes - rose tinted glasses.

I remember steam trains in service, much of this now was either outdated or up to date, or an old life seen through rose-tinted glasses.

That bastard Beaching and his odious mate Marples shown 2.04 - ripped the country to shreds. Beaching had shares in Marples road building company (oh - he sold them before becoming Transport Minister, to his wife!). Crooks and vandals, both of them should have been put against the wall.
