Nice video ! One question i have a similar set i have 6 batterys 12 volts agm 100ah each im not sure what the absorption time should be for my battery bank i have it now absorption voltage 14.5 for 1 hr and float to 13.8 ?
@rayberger2694
@rayberger2694 3 ай бұрын
Your float voltage is good, but your boost voltage looks a little low to me, can you raise your boost voltage to 14.6 or 14.7 ? My Renogy solar chargers come preset with a boost time period of 2 hours for Sealed lead acid / AGM.

I did this exact setup but the red cable of the 12 volt outlet melted around the built in fuse and the laptop charger was getting really hot. The Voltage is at about 13.2 volts right now and the laptop charger accepts between 12-24 volts. I’m not sure why this is happening. Maybe the 24 amp hour battery is supplying too many amps. Not sure how to limit that.

use good wire for DC current, because DC current will hot your wire soon, that why asked your nearest shop you need a wire for DC voltage,

19.5v 9.23A ... but what is this device called. "converter" "rectifier"? ur link is broken or no longer available. im not sure why this is such a hard item to find. i was going to try using 24v (2-12v batteries) direct to the charging port on my laptop. but im concerned that it may harm the laptop. if i can rectify it to limit the charge to say 20v @10 amps , im sure that would be fine. this is not my field of know, so if someone who knows electronics could help... plz (plz no guessing for u trolls out there). i dont imagine u can take a 12v battery and get more power out of it but 24v should be able to be rectified. but i cant find any devices out there.

Great video! But my battery is dead in my laptop and still want to run it off car cigarette lighter like you. I don't have the battery connected, will it work directly off the car 12v or should I buy a battery or something else. I'd prefer not buying an inverter. My battery was 19v 3.42A but my car is 12v

Why did you have to tear the whole battery Bank down to do this, you could have just left it all connected, disconnected your solar panel and seen which one drained the most by the morning.
@Mountainrock70

Keeping the batteries connected for testing will cause a sphere of influence on the bad battery. You will get a false higher reading on the bad battery.

my laptop is already 12 volt on the plug that plugs into the actual laptop, the power supply for the laptop is 110 to 12 volt, can i just plug the laptop into a car battery since it is 12 volts and ommit any addaptors or inverters or what ever, say just with aligator clips as long as i get the polarity right? Bypassing the 110v to 12v power supply that came with the laptop?

hi this might be a random question Im currently taking apart a solar set up from a van. I have everything taken out except the battery which still has some wires connected to it. There are two loose wires and two that go to the fuse box. The two loose ones were connected to the charge controller but I took the ends of the wires out of the controller. Will the battery electrocute me if I take a wrench to unscrew the wire? how did you do that safely? My set up does not have an off switch. To disconnect the charge controller I covered the solar panels but I think there might still be some power left in the battery because the diesel heater still had its light until I disconnected it.

Harbor freight sells a reasonably priced battery load tester. The old adage you get what you pay for. First thing you should do is redo all the connections on the clamps. They did a poor job of making those connections. With a load test all you need to do is remove one of the battery connections to open your string (load removed of course) then you can load test each of your batteries to find bad and weak batteries in your string.

A bad battery when charging will show high voltage. Leave them hooked up while charging and simply look for the one with higher than normal v reading. You can also load test to see which one is showing low voltage. Try this before completely tearing down your bank.
@pstoneking3418
@pstoneking3418 3 жыл бұрын
Good advice. You can also remove the load , then open the string by removing one connection on one of the batteries then you can use a load tester to check individual batteries. I like load testing better than voltage monitoring.
