13 :37 In Erik’s defence the “smell like death” passage is actually a mistranslation of the verb “sentir” which can be translated as “to smell”, “to feel” or “to sense”. In the context of the sentence: “Ses mains, si légères fussent-elles, n'en sentaient pas moins la mort” would be translated as “His hands, however light they were, nonetheless felt like death”(underlining Christine’s distress in a moment she thought she might die)😉.

Yeah book Raoul is a whiny brat, but musical Raoul is not THAT different. He's a gaslighter, and only tries to "fight" Erik in his vulnerable moments, so yeah he's a coward in both versions. Leroux Erik is sensual on his way tho 😳 Please keep this channel up 🥺🙏🏼 you're doing so great sis!!

Madame Giry actually doesn't rescue him in the stage musical, only in the 2004 movie. In the stage musical, she found him as an adult being enslaved in the freakshow, and she comments about him serving the Shah of Persia before coming to Paris. Stage Erik ran away and pretended to be dead. The 2004 movie is so ???? idk why they made Madame Giry becoming some kind of (absent) mother to him 😂 also yeah i kinda have an idea of why The Persian was replaced, ra*tuf tuf*cism
