11 years later nothing has changed. Real shame, government need to fund and develop these local seaside towns. They can waste billions a year on housing illegal imigrants in hotels but nothing for the country.

Lighting the lights in Ilfracombe happens on the last Friday in November per year are the dates between 24th and 30th November. In 2020/21 lighting the lights was cancelled 😡 because of the covid. On Friday 25th November 2022, what happened that lighting the lights was not in St Brannocks Road anymore because it gets in the buses 🚍 way. Peter Cooper happens to be there who wears glasses 👓. He is married to Edwina Cooper also wears glasses 👓 . Lighting the lights is about Christmas 🎅 and the new year 🍾🍻👑🎉🎈🪅. There are around thousands of people 👨👩👧👦👩👩👧👦👩👩👦👦👨👩👦👦👩👩👧👧👩👧👦👨👦👦👩👧👧👨👧👧👩👦👦👨👧👦 at lighting the lights. In the middle of the high street people are dancing 💃 to the Christmas 🤶 music 🎶 like 👍 Wham - Last Christmas 🎄and other Christmas 🤶 songs outside the church ⛪️. Everyone are happy 😊. Gosh 😅 hasn’t time 🕥 came and went quickly in whatever year it is. In 2022 I’ve worn my Father Christmas 🎅 hat 🎩, Christmas 🎅 jumper and black ⬛️ trousers 👖. In 2023 if covid doesn’t happen, fingers crossed 🤞 to hope that lighting the lights will take place on Friday 24th November 2023. Lighting the lights 💡💡💡 makes me happy 😊. It’s good 👍. In November 2023 it is merry Christmas 🎄 and a happy 😃 new year to 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣4️⃣ is on a Monday. This happens in the autumn 🍂 season is GMT - Greenwich Mean Time 🕥. Enjoy 😊 your life and please 🙏 behave yourselves on lighting 💡the lights 💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡💡. Thank you 🙏. 😀😃😄😁😊😍🤩😎🤓👍🤝❤️💕

I visited Ilfracombe this past weekend for the first time since 1982. It is a lovely place, and I hadn't realised the High Street even existed! What a surprise - lots of lovely little independent shops, and a dearth of chain stores. Beautiful architecture. I hope Ilfracombe develops in a way that keeps local residents and businesses happy. A lady in a harbourside chippy told me that cruise ships have started stopping there. Game on! Sort out your car parking problems and Ilfracombe will be the new Newquay! lol

Ilfracombe should bring back its market but the local authority and panners just aren't up to scratch. Now they're allowing Costa in and more will follow, which will push up rents. Lovely seafront and the High St is slowly coming up, but far too slowly. The High St traffic is still bad with limited parking and it should be pedestrianised. It's a feeding ground for wardens and it's high time they made the High St a one way system.

I've lived in both Ilfracombe and Willesden (which is near to Harlesden in London) for long periods of time and they are both crap holes really but what she says at 1:02 about the High Street being friendly is really true. One day I decided I was going to try to overcome my social anxiety so I walked down the High Street chatting to everyone and it was very therapeutic because I'd have like 20 conversations a day. Whereas in Willesden High Street you can chat a bit but you'll never see them agin

Don't bring more people to ilfracombe we are a little town and that is how everyone likes it because everyone knows each other and you can get around if you lived here then the high street comes in handy we don't need big shops we need little cute handy shops which we already have cus its near almost every house and if not then you can walk to it so easy

some years since i went to ilfracombe, was a bit run down then, looks better now, though it doesnt have a very good reputation, even on youtube it gets slated.Id have it pedastrianised all that traffic would put me off shopping.build a large car park and get the shoppers to stroll around without all that traffic.first and most obvious thing in the very good video

I've just watched Dartmouth's entry by way of comparison. Ilfracombe is a town in desperate need of funding to put good ideas into practice. In comparison, Dartmouth appears to have had it all, but has just hit a bit of a rough patch. There's a history of funding going to towns that are already wealthy and don't need the cash - St Ives springs to mind. It's about time that this trend was bucked and funding awarded to a town that really needs it - Ilfracombe !
