At first the cat is intimidated as all cats are with playful dogs but as soon as he/she gets it its game on! Dont underestimate the kit!

My Auntie had a Jack Russell and he loved to play football, he'd run himself out of breath playing but his ball control was brilliant, better than a Premiership player, no way could I get the ball off him, what a player

My little Chihuahua mix is old and lost many teeth so when she tried to bite the cat he though she was playing and rolled over and grabbed her by her cheeks. She is afraid of him now.

I had one, NEVER again. They are so smart it makes it difficult to train them if they don't feel like it. Mine would walk around the back yard with his head deliberately looking away from me when I would call him to come in. I could yell at him for ten minutes it didn't matter. I would have to go out there and he would wait till I was about three feet away and then look at me as if to say oh its time to go in and he would run for the house. If he was inside and he saw a squirrel in the yard....boom he would run right through the screen door. If the door was open to let air in with just the screen door closed he wouldn't hesitate to run right through it. His prey drive was insane, if ANYTHING ventured into my backyard it was dead. Squirrels, Possums, Racoons, the neighbors cats, he was a killing machine. I loved him but he was the most stubborn willful little dog EVER.

Once he started talking to the cat, it seemed a little encouraged that it did a bluff charge and started walking over to the guy with it's tail in the air, like to say, "I got him like you said to".

My old street cat used to lurk in the neighbors bushes until his chihuahua came sniffing around. Then he'd jump out into the yard and roar, causing the little dog to take off like a rocket and hide under the deck. Cat would come sauntering back into my yard with a smug expression on his face "I sure showed him what's what!". Good times.

So nice when the cat can still somewhat relax because the nice dog just wants to play and be friends. Much different animals but very capable of being friends.

I had a jack russell maltese mix. I had 18 years of that fun. However, he did slow down into his grandpa stage. My doggy was smart. He knew the names of all his toys. See if you can teach that!

@@dianetheisen8664 I'm a dog person times 10, the only thing I'd be worried about is the cat's claws swiping dog's eyes if that was a feral cat (didn't see a collar). Feral cats hunt to live, Jack's live to play! 🥎 (and I suppose to hunt rodents 😂)

And there you have why Cats and Dogs usually dont get along: They dont speak the same body language. Cat sees this hectic playful behavior as irritating and aggressive behavior, especially the barking. 😅 But when they grow up together, they can learn to play together. I recently saw a series of videos with a Cat and a Retriever pup playing as if they're Cat and Cat or Dog and Dog and it continued the same way in later videos when the Retriever was twice and then three times as big.
