Hello, thank you for the explanation, the doctor who put those strips on my laparoscopic incision/drainage make a blister grow under the end of two of the strips, far from the incision luckily, I was scared to make it explode to drain it(but it did by itself and another nurse clean it well after empty it) my question is after how many days are this strips been remove after a laparoscopic incision surgery?(this was the drainage) Do they have to be taken away to clean the wound of the drainage and the put more cleaned strip on top or keep them and clean on top of them until they fell off?how many days I should keep them to be sure wound is ok?thank you

This techique came out of my mind, while trying to place ectrical tape or other similar stuff like stickers, I use the tip of the scissors, that I used to cut the tape, or even the tip of knives etc. This method really works, makes things easier and more precise too!!

You might add that the nurse should "mildly push squeeze" the skin so it closes before the final half of each streri-strip is applied, then finally a perpendicular steri-strip across the ends of the steri-strips to help stabilize the adhesion and help them not "slow slide" as body sweats (the sweat interferes with the adhesion, the strips slide and the wound can re-open. Or you can make your own zip stitch DIY using zip ties & long strips of medical tape (even name brand duct tape adheres well); this means two pieces of tape w double side (xFasten dbl side tape ?) tape to sandwich the zip ties ; the wound goes between the two zip tie sections whose zip tie ends are then inserted into each others corresponding end on each piece of tape; the good part is you have the wound closed but open to view mostly, then by covering with clear tape it keeps out dust/dirt and also allows inspection w/o taking off the zip ties; be careful not to over tighten; do 1 clik of zip ties at a time until wound just touches, over tightening will cause bunching and underneath scar tissue. OF course normal cleaning/ washing, sterilizing, and must be super dry skin with no old blood or it may slip as well (that is the reason for the extra long sandwich of med tape and dbl sided tape to create more adhesion/less slipping on sweaty or wet skin (if for some reason it got wet like rain or other). FYI: in a desperate emergency u could use plain strips of duct tape as extra long steri-strips.

You have a neat trick to adjust the length as well? Often you dont need the full length of one strip.

I just had surgery on my gallbladder, I had these steri strips on each of my incisions.They made the skin under them wrinkle up like tiny waves. This caused a lot of discomfort and itching! Just any FYI. ;) Maybe they were applied wrong?
@cc31846 жыл бұрын
Or depending on the wound you can apply the strips all at once along the incision.

Thanks for that. Had to do my adult son's large toe. He had toe wedge resection. Staphylococcus infection that had been lurking and would not go with antibiotics flared. Been two and a half weeks. Think the Comvita sterile strips with the Manuka honey have finally dealt to it. Couldn't have large gaps as it is toe. Back to Dr tomorrow after weekend, had to clean with saline syringe cleaning. I have new respect for nurses after this!
