I bought compression cubes and immediately returned them when I got back home because of the same conclusion. It’s like a placebo effect - it makes you think you’re saving space but you aren’t. Also, the weird bulging actually made it more difficult to pack efficiently cause loose items like coats wouldn’t lay down flat and slip off to the side.

Is microfiber towel safe gentle for skin as it's derived from synthetic material ?
@adventuretravelpro2 ай бұрын
Yes, microfiber towels are generally safe and gentle for the skin, even though they are derived from synthetic materials. They are designed to be soft and smooth, which can make them suitable for sensitive skin, reducing the risk of irritation or abrasion. However, it’s important to choose a high-quality microfiber towel to ensure comfort and safety. Some lower-quality microfiber towels might not be as gentle, so it's worth investing in a reputable brand. Also as a side tip, it's always a good idea to wash the towel before its first use to remove any manufacturing residues.

Thanks 🙏🏻. Is microfiber more suitable than cotton for bath towel and water absorbency ?
@adventuretravelpro2 ай бұрын
Hi Vira, this video is mostly focused on the use of microfiber towels in the context of travelling - eg. when showering / going to the beach etc. From what I know, yes Microfiber towels are generally more suitable than cotton bath towels for backpackers because they're highly absorbent and can hold several times their weight in water! Yet despite this, they also dry much faster than cotton towels, which is convenient for backpackers who need to pack up and move between destinations regularly. Additionally, microfiber towels tend to be lighter, more compact, and more durable than cotton towels. While cotton towels are soft and comfortable, the practicality of microfiber makes them the better choice for backpacking.

The benefit of the compression cube is that because the outer edge is smaller you are able to stick things in the nooks and crannies created by the cubes. When using the regular cubes they all stack nicely and don’t create those useable spaces.

My son recommended the Rainleaf towel. He has travelled extensively during the last couple of years using microfiber towels most days. During this time, he used 3 different microfiber towels. He liked the Rainleaf because it held up better than the others. He ordered 5 for our family on Amazon. Went with the 24 x 48 inch size. It's good to see that Ash included this towel in her 3 Best Microfiber Towels.

Thanks for your comment and positive feedback - much appreciated. And for sure, the Rainleaf microfiber travel towel is a definitely a popular option amongst backpackers, so it makes sense that your son recommended it to you. You'll have to keep us posted on how you find it once you get to use it too!

I love this review. I came here thru the link on your review on adventure travel. I just bought my tripped compression cubes and was wondering about the same questions you presented in your article and reached out to same conclusions. That is there seem to be no added value at all specially when as you mentioned "cubes will be compressed naturally once you add more stuff on top of them". Thank you for the review.

I think you forgot to let the air out. Try leaving the zipper open a bit and squeeze the air out before you compress it.

When, doing comparison, you have to compare apples to apples with the clothing put in the bags. Same exact clothing in each bag that’s a true comparison.
@adventuretravelpro Жыл бұрын
Hi Shell, thanks for your comment. Yep this would be the case for most things, however this is somewhat tricky when comparing standard vs compression cubes. From my experience, most compression cubes can't be filled to the brim the same way as a standard cube, given you need to allow extra space so it can compress down after being zipped. If I filled both cubes with the exact same clothes the reality is that the compression cube would not zip up as a start, or if I put less clothes in the standard cube, it would appear baggy and loose - not how it should be packed. This is why I naturally lean towards standard cubes over compression cubes myself. I hope that helps and have a great day!
@newagain99643 ай бұрын
@@adventuretravelproperhaps u should retitle ur video along lines of compression cubes don’t provide as much space and cost more than reg cubes. Or “why compression cubes are a bad investment”. Compression do “actually work”. But depending on ur needs.

I think you may have over packed the compression cube. Everything I have seen says to only fill 2/3 full.
@adventuretravelpro Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for your comment. You're right in that generally with most packing cubes, aiming for 2/3 full is a good guide. This is because you need to allow extra space in the cube so it can compress down after being zipped. You experience this problem less so with standard packing cubes. To compare the products as closely as possible in the video, I did fill the compression cube a bit more than this. Based on my experience, I have found that you naturally fit more clothes in a standard cube vs a compression cube of the same size. Have a great day!

Tbf one valid conclusion she came to is u can’t pack as much in a compression vs reg cube. That should be creators lead/title. Because it’s not apparent on shopping or travel review sites.

What a bummer! The idea of compression packing cubes sounds so great to me, but they really don't seem like they work that much better - especially since I like to stuff my packing cubes to the max 😂 I really appreciate the comparison with a normal packing cube!

Hi Katie, thanks! Yeah I felt the same way. I actually just used the Shacke Pak packing cubes on my trip to Indonesia and they worked a treat. Given my back pack was so jam packed, I found that they compressed really well even without the "compression" function.

Thanks for the video. I have come to roughy the same conclusions. I didn’t find any real advantage of compression cubes over standard packing cubes, either using rolling or folding. In fact I found the compression cubes a bit unwieldy, they are still useful but not as useful as I had hoped.

@adventuretravelpro Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. Yeah they definitely have some differences. I think it really depends on the type of luggage you’re going to be using as well- ie suitcase vs travel backpack. If using a travel backpack, I find that both compact down pretty well with the standard packs offering a bit more flexibility (in terms of how you squish them in).
