I didn't see you turning up and down the block when you were downtown, midtown and North End like you did when you were showing all the ruined neighbors in Highland Park...come on man be fair. Also show Detroit's progressions, they're building new things all over the place. Even the old people from the suburbs are excited about Detroit now, they even brag about it. I'm just surprised that people are still making videos of the ruins of Detroit when so much progress has been made. They have torn down 50,000 houses and counting. That's why you see less blight and more urban prairies. They are about to rebuild it. The Mayor said that it is already 10 years of building on the books, thousands of projects in the works... I'm just saying.

@@jdallas3369 I hear ya, man. Could have been better. I wish nothing but the best for Detroit. What I think is funny is that no one wanted to watch the the video that shows the nice parts. Human nature, I guess.

Link below of a drive down Woodward through downtown, midtown, Wayne State, etc. I also have another forthcoming video of rougher neighborhoods in Detroit proper, as this one is mainly Highland Park. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2jIfoN_rcqgfdksi=FpoLC0WMcUPTEusS

4:00 that's Highland Park by the way, but Detroit do have abandoned lookin neighborhoods like that but it also have great neighborhoods. It's a very large land base with many nice places to live if you can afford it. You actually drove pass some of them and you didn't turn until you got to Highland Park, Michigan which is a city inside of Detroit. It was Detroit's first suburb and beautiful at that time. But once blacks got there looking for a better way of life, they took their ball and went home and moved farther away and took all their money and businesses away from there and shut down schools, hospitals and everything else. That's why it look this way.They did the same thing to Detroit which was the richest city in the world in the 1950's and 60's. Look it up
@Mikerocosms-yc9sw4 күн бұрын
@@jdallas3369 Yep. The video is just labeled as "Detroit" for simplicity's sake. But yeah, I explain Highland Park is an enclave city in the description and it was meant to be the focus of this video. You're right, Detroit was jammin' in the '50s and started to slowly decline around '58, I think? I also believe it was the 4th largest city in the U.S. around that time. Thank you for the additional info 🙏

I am a contract engineer and work all over the USA. I have seen similar things in several cities. 1: Milwaukee Wisconsin. Side streets near the astronautics corporation looked like a war zone. Every house boarded up windows, decaying porches. It looked like that street in Ohio where the guy held those three girls captive for years. 2: Dayton Ohio. Go one mile down the road from Wright Patterson Air Force Base and the houses are crumbling. Scary looking neighborhood. 3: Syracuse New York. Drive around the city and see all the industrial buildings un-occupied as the machine and manufacturing work has left.

It's sad enough to see that community lose just about everything- its main hospital, police department, fire department...high school and college. I wonder if Detroit took over by now. I remember that beautiful old art deco Sears store on Woodward, across the street from the old Ford plant that started out life building Model Ts- the car that put the world on wheels...and made Henry Ford a multi-millionaire....and put Detroit on the global map as an industrial force to be reckoned with.
