A good representation of relativity, as everything appears to be completely motionless, except for the astronaut moving around the craft. However they are moving over 40,000 kph, relative to Earth and Moon.

Indeed it was - I could not find any rips of it online, and I didn't want the footage to end up forgotten to time as the DVDs age.

What is the buzz we hear the whole time? When it lifts off at about 0:15 there is no change in the sound. I would have expected the sound of the rocket to dominate the recording.
@thetechnicolorwhiscashАй бұрын
You don't hear the sound of the rocket because of the lack of atmosphere on the moon - sound is essentially the vibration of particles (typically air, but sound can also travel through other medium like water) so with the absence of air on the lunar surface, it doesn't make a sound. The buzzing is from the audio recording equipment they used. I'm not especially familiar with what specifically causes it, but you hear it as well as the astronauts because there is air within the lunar module for sound to travel through.
@markaurelius61Ай бұрын
@@thetechnicolorwhiscash But the vibration would easily come through the solid material of the LM

This must have been a thrill, to perform a EVA task 100,000 miles from both the Earth and The Moon.

it definitely was a nice consolation prize for the Command Module Pilot who didn’t get to go down to the Lunar surface!

So what is all that cutting? Radiations wave?
@thetechnicolorwhiscashАй бұрын
I'm no expert on how the television worked, but I believe part of the issue could be due to the fact the distance was so great and the CSM was in motion during the broadcast.
@narajunaАй бұрын
@@thetechnicolorwhiscash naturally it could not stop orbiting, dont see why that causes glitches.

thanks for all these great posts! i was ten years old and remember Apollo 15 vividly. it was during the summer so lots of live coverage during the day in between my mom's game shows, especially Jeopardy (my mom was smart).

For those wondering, the numbers the copilot is reading off (45,43,46) are a "landing position prediction" made by the computer. When he says a number, the pilot looks through the window which has these angkes etched on, he looks through the number to the lunar surface, that's the landing site

It's ferrying an astronaut and a cosmonaut up to the space station! Then, in February, the crew will return with the Starliner astronauts.
