Limited trials I did in a no-till system showed, maybe because of nutrient stratification, we found it unlikely that traditional npk starter would return positive yield. This year we're breaking into a low rate npk product with more emphasis on adequate K availability, some sulfate sources, Zn and Mn, and finally getting into biological and natural products. So far it looks like these things may be really good on a planter placement, especially the lower use rate components like micronutrients. Really appreciate seeing people take the time to talk through their plot work like you did here.

Looks like a fair rig but the coulter is in the wrong place. Should be after the bar off disks so it cuts all the weeds before catching on the sweep shank.

With correct setting and deflector shield, looks like it could also be used to strip till. Sure would be fast.

Pulled a 8/30 with a 8285r in some solid ground fall of 17 and it gave the tractor all it wanted... should pull easy this fall after I tore up the hard pan already
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm6 жыл бұрын
How fast did you go and how deep? Looking at putting some long term no till back to strip.
@mossjones73756 жыл бұрын
TwoHappyChildrenFarm About a foot deep. I had the speed set for 6 but it would depend on the ground.. mostly around 5.3-6
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I have really heavy clay. It takes all my 4440 can handle to pull a 2 shank ripper at 15 inches deep (first time the field was ever ripped). I think it could do a 8 inch deep with a 4 row tripr. I'm tractor poor as of right now.
@chasesblog4 жыл бұрын
A guy that we farm with runs an 8/40 with a jd 8300 without any issues as far as I’m aware but it would depend on the soil in places. Though also saying that I’m not sure how deep he runs but I’m gonna guess least 6 inches.

looking at buying one of these units and would really like to talk to you because of first hand experience
@darkhorse495511 жыл бұрын
We pull this unit with a 965 challenger with 500 gallon mounted front liquid tank going 8-8.5" deep. Only ran into a couple of spots that we could not pull up a hill in 2 years.Traction. Orthman put 2 tanks on the unit but the undercarriage is very poor. Built TOO small for the unit. Tracks with rear bogie wheels seem to fight each other The strip till action leaves the soil very nice though. It has some issues in rocks but what doesn't. Putting 2nd set of track undercarriages on in 2yrs.

Our research shows that the 1tRIPr needs at least 25HP per row for optimum performance, in loose soil... so, this one needs a 600HP tractor at least, maybe up to 800HP for tight soil. That said, these aren't full production units yet. This is the 3rd one that's out there, and we are monitoring them to make sure that the design is ready for the inevitable bigger tractors and more HP that is coming.

'' you NEED to be kidding me '' -- why don't you cut a deal with VERSATILE ? Canada industry is in dire straights; and Vers. builds a hellastrong tractor . good idea.

Hi Trompie! Our international guy advises that 1.34HP converts to 1kW... and, the 1tRIPr requires 25 to 30 HP depending on soil conditions. That is 18.6 to 22.4 kW.
