I arrived here weeks before the festy, I was building the thunder dome but it wasn't my thing. I built a shack shop in this field selling baccy, munchies, candles etc. Two days after I set up, the Hawkwind stage set up in front of me like a triangle with me opposite the entrance. When everyone left the crowd the first thing you'd see in the dark was my oil lamp at my stall. I bought a 550FG chassis cab with my earnings, sold the stall and the stock to two young girls and tatted the site to build a flatbed on the truck. Such a wicked festy. They don't make them like this anymore. Lol

I was there! Me,Quinny an Tigger Jackson. Got there Sunday afternoon about 3pm , The Enid were playing Itchycoo park.Very hazy but seem to remember New Model Army being on before the Hawks. Cos there were 2 stages along side each other you had all the punks on the left and the space rockers on the right who were shouting for Hawkwind during the NMA set, think they cut it short.Classic Hawkwind line-up 👍👍

Spacemen 3 were 3rd on the bill. They did a song that I thought was I Can See For Miles by The Who, turned out it was Revolution. Tubular Dog was first on they were brilliant. The singer out of Suicide threw a cigarette at someone. Enid we’re weird. One of the last times I saw Calvert with The Starfighters.

Me and me mates all travelled down from co durham, dropped three white lightning hits of acid, by the time we got to leeds we were all so fucking tripped out we could not park the van, every time we turned a street corner it looked like the one we had just turned in , those were the days.

The original Alice Cooper band, had they stayed together, could have been the American version of the Rolling Stones. Their band was so good, thanks to Bob Ezrin who made them practice 10 hours a day. It’s too bad they had their differences within the band. In one respect it’s almost like they didn’t realize just how good they were. As a person who’s watched them several times, I keep coming back to this group. Other groups at this time just don’t do it for me. And I’m talking only about the music, not the stage gore act. This band was SO TIGHT, such a shame they broke up. TG for wonderful videos like this to preserve their greatness.

Like all long distance journeys through time and space the members of the mothership will change through disagreement boredom and ultimately death as the years revolve one by one they are jettisoned into the dark depths of deepest space the soundscape vapour trail these cosmonauts leave in their wake have become folklore to those left behind on planet earth we hear them loud and clear across the decades ,as the broken barricades of discordant voices are silenced , discerning ears are tuned to interstellar vibrations of Hawkwind .
