As always, awesome video Paul. Since Thanksgiving is coming up in a few days in the U.S.A two things you should be grateful for living in a beautiful country like Australia and a wonderful group of fellow sailors to spend quality time with. Keep the videos coming a warm hello from Miami Florida. By the way Rick's paddleboard bed was both interesting and hilarious.

As typical you cook an inspiring healthy meal like few other youtube sailors. Also as typical you are let down by the wind forecast. I've mostly been lucky to sail in geographies that at least create sunny afternoon sea breezes, even on lakes. Judging by my tour on Hawkesbury Mail Boat you don't seem to have geography that would pull becalmed winds in one way or the other.

It was a good day for exploring though, even if the wind was a little slow! Thanks for watching....and not laughing at my cooking, cheers Paul

Lovely Paul. Please take this as a compliment, some scenes you did reminded me of the "Last of Us", video game. Music etc fitted so well. Great to watch! Made me miss the sun too, its snowing in the UK today!!!

Thanks Dave, sorry I'm not a gamer so I'm not familiar with Last of us. Sometimes here on 40c days (which is only 4/5 times a year in Sydney) snow would be great. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment, cheers Paul

Hi Paul! thanks for another great video that makes me 'sail' while I don't build my Pocketship (not to long). Small world, Chris was in contact with Teo, the guy from The Boat Rambler channel, whom doesn't live too far from me. The Boat Rambler it's another sailling channel I subscribe, so I can 'sail' around Mar da Palha bay (South shore of Tejo river facing Lisbon). Fair winds!

Hi Paul, I have often seen you being towed. Is your current electric out board not fit for purpose, or what are your concerns re the Emotor. I do enjoy your channel so thank you. Maybe some pros & cons compared to a 5hp outboard.
@SailingKateLouise9 күн бұрын
Hi Paul, my 2x12v batteries are 4 years old and are meant to be good for 12 years. However they are only really charging to 80% and I don't want to run them down below 50% ( they are agm not Lithium). So that will only give me 1hr at 3knots and maybe 4 at 2knots which sounds a lot but over 3 or 4 days it isn't. I have never run them done below 50% so when a tow is offered it's prudent to accept. I still haven't got solar and that would help to keep the charge up, but I only have room for a small panel while sailing, and a large blanket is not practical while sailing. The pros for electric are they are light to lift in and out if you can't tilt and the cons as above. Petrol outboards if serviced, are capable of greater distances and speed in strong currents but are noisy and heavy. I try to use my electric only to get in and out from jetties and moorings but not really for going long distances.....unlike petrol I can't top up if they go flat. I hope this helps and thanks for watching, cheers Paul

@SailingKateLouise9 күн бұрын
Hi yes, both wind and less current make downstream from Brooklyn better, that's also where I normally go. But on that day the Parsley bay boat ramp was closed as they were loading barges to do test drilling for the high speed train crossing. I don't know if it's a tunnel or bridge. Thanks for watching, cheers Paul

Thoroughly enjoyed this video and the way your boats are built. I spent my youth, growing up on a houseboat on a lake in the Netherlands. My dad was a boat builder. He built wooden yachts and regatta boats. I grew up sailing the lake since I was 4. We sold our family yacht last year but I will return to the water on my (former Olympic) Finn dinghy. Fair wind and following waves!

@@SailingKateLouiseif the cost is not an issue, I’d recommend using one of those 360 cameras; you can select whatever direction in postprocessing - nice when you are sailing alone and don’t have time to point camera to something interesting. I did not get enough good videos last summer due to several reasons, but perhaps next summer. Greetings from Finland, nice to view warm weather!

If you had of travelled down a bit further from the Coba shacks down the Berowra inlet , at the end of the first long straight from the shacks there is a nice little sandy beach on the starboard side right at the start of the first dogleg . Normally has a nice washup of firewood on the beach too , oysters on the rocks , and plenty of room for 3 boats.

I have this question. Is it forbidden to fish in these lakes? because I don't remember seeing you or your campmates eat fish in many episodes. good winds! Thank you for the incredible videos.
@SailingKateLouise13 күн бұрын
No it's not forbidden. Myall lakes used to be commercially fished but that stopped when it became a National Park. There are still fish there but not many. I have seen people fish but never seen anyone catch one. We spend more time sailing than fishing. In Lake Macquarie commercial fishing was banned in 2002 . There are a lot of spots to fish there, but again we leave them to the sharks. Bruce often catches tuna offshore on his adventures though, check out sailing Wayfinder.
