The swap meets, the summer nationals, the smell of the pits, racing my GS 455 and driving home with open headers, went back for the first time last year and drove the supercars at the road track, surely a lot of fun but not the same as drag racing

I remember many races there in the 80s and 90s. I raced my '73 'Cuda 340 there at the Moparnationals one year in the 90s. I thought it would always be there... such epic times.

NJ had Palisades Park, Action Park and ahhhh hahahahaha RRRACEWAY PPARK! I enjoyed all three but Raceway Park was my place from the mid 70's to the end. Even with just regular Sundays with no Superstars. Just loved the sport. All fantastic times, never a disappointment anywhere. I was so sad to see it go.

These city officials work for the people. They need to remember that. Petitions show them what the people want. I hope you get the track back.

I attended a couple of NHRA events at Raceway Park back in the mid 2000s. I remember how, during one of my visits wandering through the pit area, meeting Pro Stock champ Greg Anderson-wow! He was so humble and unassuming; he was helping to push his car, steering the wheel as he did. We said hello to one another, and it wasn't until I was walking away that I realized who it was. That's my Raceway Park memory... 😀😀

Not a mention about the motocross being there since the 70s, nothing goes on here anymore lol. And now it's rezoned property so it'll be townhomes in 10 years.

A lot of fond memories at Raceway Park... they squeeze enthusiasts out of place to go and wonder why the racing ends up in the streets.

This really hits home when we towed are home brewed cars from CT down to NJ on junk trailers and tow bars slept in them just to feel like we belonged somewhere with people just like us and to know the injustice of local politics and zoning father in a battle with the state over imminent domain and the loss of our business make a sign that read the Lord giveth and government taketh away

A lot of people don't know that Raceway Park was birthplace of the Junior Dragster Class. It started out as a couple of half scale dragsters powered by a motorcycle engine that Vinnie Napp had built for his kids to have some fun on the track during down times. To put it in a nutshell, the NHRA heard about it and thought it was a great idea to get a new generation of kids interested in drag racing. During the 1987 Summernationals the NHRA announced the creation of the Junior Dragster Class and Richie Napp and if memory serves me correctly one of his cousins took an exhibition pass down the track.

I've never been to Raceway Park but this has to be stopped now before it's too late. The same sh!t happened to a dragstrip near me that was once in the middle of nowhere but people moved there and built homes and then wanted to complain about the noise. It's complete BS that a group of 7 or 10 people can destroy a legacy like this because of their own greedy f-ing agendas and if people could grow some gumption and fight this kind of bs together it wouldn't happen! It really appears that all these politicians in every city would rather have America's youth hooked on and dying from substances at alarming rates than let them have good old fashioned wholesome fun that can actually bennefit not only themselves and their communities but society as a whole as the people who build race cars especially on small budgets become some of the greatest innovaters and build businesses as well as productive careers in industry! Every person who's able that ever raced here or benefited from the racing should load their cars up and haul up there and send a message that we won't be pushed out of existence because of p.o.s people who don't agree with our lifestyle getting their feelers hurt and upset about loud noise! These people knew what was there when they bought! They should have to deal with it or leave and let hot rodders and motorheads live in those places. I'll be damned if the city gets to move to the country and then tell the country we have to change our ways. There's enough people who love this place that this man can and should be supported in his fight and this drag racing legacy should be supported, regenerated and continue to make memories for generations to come! People have to stand against these at t4cks together and with your dollars if you really believe in what America can be and it doesn't need to go through politicians that squander funds and take years only to compromise for the scraps at the end! Never been a better time than now to bring back America!

In 1988 I drove all the way to Raceway Park and my Little Turquoise Dodge A-100 Pickup Truck just to meet Bill Maverick Golden and his Little Red Wagon just to buy a hat and a t-shirt for myself and my son and younger brother, Which I found out it was actually four different trucks and because of the noise restriction in 1988 Bill couldn't run until that Sunday, I guess open headers was too much for the faint of heart in the neighboring towns, Especially when you got a little truck with zoomie headers on it and a Blown Hemi in it, Just as loud as a Funny Car, So when Maverick finally showed up, He asked me if I owned the Turquoise Dodge A-100 Pickup Truck in the Pits, I said yes, He asked if I wanted to pull the Little Red Wagon out on the track, Because it doesn't have antifreeze in the block and it runs on Alcohol, Maverick taught me how to squirt gasoline into the Injector Hat to lite the Alcohol, And set up the Wheelie Bar with the 7 shocks that control the ride height, He used to have me go meet Vinny to find out when our runs were, Vinny and Bill got along great, Your uncle was a very nice man, I wish I could have met your Dad, And losing that Drag Strip is a great loss to a lot of people especially drag race fans, There will never be another Raceway Park, I believe it's right up there with the Excitement that Lions Drag Strip started out in California, This is our East Coast Biggest Drag Strip, and I used to drive all the way from Maryland, Our local track was Capitol Raceway off of US 301in Crofton Maryland which was closed down a couple years back, But now it's opened again, But it's not the same, Just like all the Drag Strips are not the same the best era of drag racing was from the early 60s into the mid-1980s, And losing Raceway Park was such a loss, And when Scott Kalitta passed away the rules changed because of how long a drag strip should have to be, Especially Raceway Park ended on a street with a fence at the end of the strip, And I still have footage of that crash that was on ESPN, And all of us Drag Racer's and Fans know 1320 ft is a Drag Strip quarter mile, Not 1,000 ft, But that hasn't stopped anybody they're going faster and quicker now, Eventually it's going to all stop because the government is trying to phase in all these electric cars, and ban gasoline cars, And that's not working at all, I miss my long ride from Maryland all the way to Raceway Park, I never thought my Little Dodge Truck would make it that far, It's in quite a few videos and shots right around the front of the Tower and me chasing Maverick down the track after he didn't come back up the track, I'd go collect him and take him back into the pits and we get the truck ready for the next run and the fans would come over and collect his merchandise, Just like losing your Dad we lost Maverick in 2015 and the truck was sold for half million dollars twice, Losing Maverick was a great loss to Drag Racing, He was the first Original Wheelstander, I enjoyed coming all the way out there and a few trips to Atco, But not as many as going to Raceway Park, I got so many photos when the First new structure was built over top of the the staging area with all the i-beams going in, Thank You for all the great photos Richard Napp. 🙏 Howdy Hoffman Jr

One hot night in July. At the PC Richards Night of Thrills. You let me and my daughter in for half price. I wonder if you remember but even if you don't, I would like to say thank you. it was a great show. I have been going to Raceway Park since it opened. I was there during the Kaletta accident. too. My friends and I are sad to see the track close. Thank you for all the great years and memories at the track. I didn't miss very many Spring nationals. You really gave us a lifetime of enjoyment. We all feel the track was there before the people complaining.

They never should have shut the dragstrip down, as a kid I used to go the the Summer Nationals, PC Richards used to sponsor them in the 90's my dad would get tickets or some kind of discount when he was driving for the MTA Edit: from the age of 14 on weekend I started working at Englishtown Auction[flee market] a couple miles away from the track, looked forward to hearing the cars everyweekend

I remember my father taking me to raceway park every year for the pc Richard’s night, I remember going to see his friend race his g body Malibu that ran 9’s in the early 2000’s, I remember the diesel nationals and the swap meets. That place broke my heart when it closed down drag racing. I was so mad when it closed and there were so many rumors about why it did. Now I know, it’s our fault. The Spector. How can you keep a place open if there’s no customers coming in. It’s a shame.

I had alot of ties to raceway park. Spent a massive part of my 39 years going to raceway park. Attended all the events from night of thrills with John force always making an appearance. Every nation event. Swap meets. Diesel nationals. Even just local racers on Wednesday and Friday nights. It was a great part of my childhood. Sadly I could only share the photos and memories with my 2 young kids. I can only wish that it would make a come back. Thanks to your family for leaving a fantastic impact of my life.

Seeing what World Cup finals, TX2k and FL2k have become along with other events it’s a shame it wasn’t switched from NHRA(1000 ft+ 12k hp TF) to like what MIR does or Bradenton w the Outlaw promods(1/4 + 5k hp Methanol) Idk it’s a shame because I’m not much into drifting but I absolutely love drag racing :/

My dad raced there throughout the 70’s. Had a horrible wreck in his pro stock Vega at the finish line in 74 or 75. He cartwheeled and rolled forever and landed in a shutdown area near the end of the track. Also ran a pro stock 69 Camaro named Mr. VIP. He had a lot of fun out there

Yeah the township zoning board in Old bridge township definitely get some money in their back pocket because all they want is a bunch of buildings to get put up and a bunch of multi-unit buildings and they want to turn Old bridge into what manalapan looks like, mini plazas and multi-unit buildings and Starbucks on every corner, but that's okay close down the legal racetrack and we just make a racetrack out on the streets
