It is so sad, to see him in such pain, as he was so vital, physically. It is heartbreaking.

I met a former triathelete who trained with another. This person was a strict vegetarian, trained intensely and lived for the win. He died of pancreatic cancer at 32. His advice for her was to just have fun,eat what makes you smile, and don't follow the regimen he did. Brock lived for the challenge and fun. I always admired him.

Like so many other middle aged surfers of today who grew up in the 80s & early 90s, I thought Brock was Superman reincarnated. I was a Momentum kid, and just like them, my friends and I all looked up to Brock, Cheese, Sunny and those dudes. I knew he had cancer and heard when he passed, but I had only read about it. For years, I stayed away from any vids showing him sick. I just didn’t want to see another childhood hero in that state. Only a year earlier I had watched another hero of mine, my father (who pushed me into my first sandbar breakers), succumb to the same terrible disease after a decade long fight. But I finally watched today. It was difficult, but listening to his positivity was incredibly inspirational. Having that strength and courage, even in the face of death, just proved he was the Superman I had always thought. I know it’s been 6 years, but… Mahalo no nā hoʻomanaʻo Kanaka Nui (hope I got that right). Thank you for the upload✌

I’ve been surfing most of my 58 years lost touch with surfing 10 years ago and only at this very moment I’m learning about Brocks cancer. I was never a big wave rider but I looked up to Laird, Foo, many others and Brock. Of all these big wave riders Brock stood out. I’m really heartbroken

Brock was one of the early big wave hellmen that wasn't in the form of a superhero like Ken Bradshaw or Laird Hamilton. He just did it, wild and fearlessly. With a respectful punk attitude that said -we're breaking the mold and doing whatever we want to.

In the winter of 2011 I believe I was staying up Pupukea hill and i was at the bottom across road from food land hitch hiking a ride up the hill after work and i run across road and on like third vehicle i shot my thumb out and a black truck stops. guy says hop in and I was stoked for the ride. while going up the hill the guy says he just got done riding kahuku track and had his orange ktm in the back strapped down. we talked about surf as he asked if i surfed and i explained how v land had my heart and backyards and I asked if he surfed and he was like ahhh yeah i get into it sometimes and we both agreed V land was an amazing thing. the man was super excited to be talking and I was staying with the pacuals at the time auntie konnie and her brothers trank and taro and family and the man knew everyone who i mentioned ha. we pull into the compound and i hopped out and said aloha for everything and jammed around bend and later that night was talking with uncle taro who is well know for white water hawaii housings back in the day.. i’m telling the story of how this awesome guy with a ktm gave me a ride up the hill and even mention surf and uncle taro goes “holy shit that was brock little who gave you a ride home!!!” and right then it just all clicked in my head and i knew what Brock looked like too but i never even notice because we were just talking story sharing some things in common haha. That whole night and next day I couldn’t believe that brock gave me a ride home and everything just felt so normal around him. It greatly saddened me to learn of his cancer and to see it’s route. Brock loved surf and loved to ride his ktm. I will remember Brock has this great friend that saw me on the side of the road and helped me out with a ride up the hill. Aloha Brock and thank you
