Didn't know who Bill Frisell was until a couple friends played this tune at a gig last night. Been hooked on it all day! You play it so beautifully on mandolin, thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, Bill’s music is a deep well of inspiration and there is a lot of it to explore.

Yes, you succeeded. I was never lost as to where you were in the tune by keeping enough of the actual melody and you kept the swing feel going throughout. And your Nugget mandolin has a great tone.

Very Nice ! Some of those chords are pretty difficult . I commend you !

Both this version and Cold, Cold Heart are inspiring to students of mandolin - I hadn't realised so much could be developed from these two tunes and still be faithful to the idiom. Thanks also for the fun fact about Little Redwing (my grandmother used to sing it to us 65 years ago in Ireland so I guess it was well known internationally in the 40s and 50s)

@@appelmando you're pulling the tone too, no doubt about it. That is one of my favorite type of mandolin sounds, where it's really punchy like that. When I was a kid, Dempsey Young from the Lost and Found always had the best mandolin tone on a microphone, and that's how it sounded. Just immediately punchy.

Absolutely stunning! This really swings. Love your little turns up into the second octave while just bombing us with a steady flow of notes. This is inspiring. It reminds me very much of the style of the guitar player Jon Martin Skauge. Love it. For how long have you been playing the mandolin?

Hey, thanks so much, really appreciate those kind words. I've been playing mandolin for about 25 years, yikes! Haven't heard of that guitarist, will definitely check him out.
