True Appalachian ingenuity! Duct tape and wire clothes hangars? I’m of Appalachian ancestry and use both constantly. Wire hangers can be made into all sorts of custom tools at a moment’s notice!

Very good. MF 135 perkins 3 cylinder 1965, Stupidly ran out of diesel (on the road, in fog !!), bled it 3 - 4 times, had fuel at the engine pump from both little bleeders, still wouldn't start, SO - off with the air cleaner top, good squirt of EasyStart into aircleaner while turning the engine over --bingo - clatters a bit !!! ( careful)... Also, if you are on your own, it's easier to turn the engine over on the key to pump the fuel around, otherwise you need a mate to pump one side while you open the bleeds one by one and close them while the fuel is coming out - just to be sure no air is being allowed back in. Cheers. Thanks for posting.ccb

Amazing explanation. I had no clue about what happened with my MF 135 Perkins (my first tractor). I just replaced (1st time) the fuel filter and, no start. Your explanation is amazing! You have a new subscriber! Appreciate it!

The only thing I can recommend is loosening the nut to each injector and just cranking until it sprays out. Then tightening and repeat the process for the others.

All you need to clean cast iron is a bottle of vinegar. Vinager soak will strip cast iron down to the original metal.
@countrymountainroad3949
@countrymountainroad3949 3 жыл бұрын
Vinegar will clean a little bit of surface rust but it will not take care of a crusty pan. That would take a very long time. And if you leave a pan in a vinegar solution to long it will actually eat the pan and make the metal very soft and ruin it
@ericshupack8056
@ericshupack8056 3 жыл бұрын
@@countrymountainroad3949 I've done it before and it works. Soaked a 60 year old corn muffin pan for one night and the rust came off easily the next day. It definitely did not eat or soften the cast-iron
@countrymountainroad3949
@countrymountainroad3949 3 жыл бұрын
Not saying it doesn't work. Soaking in a 50/50 water and vinegar solution will only take care of light rust. It will not take care of any carbon buildup or heavy rust. Which is why people turn to lye and electrolysis. If left in too long it will eat the item being cleaned. The vinegar solution will make the pan very soft enough to where you can engrave in it kind of like concrete right before it dries when you write your name in it. Over the past 20 years i have accidentally done this twice once worth a Colman lantern cage and recently with a small logo number 9 I had left in there for 3 days it pretty much destroys the pan and gives it a porous rough texture. afterwards it is very hard to get any seasoning to stick to it.

YOUNG MAN , NEVER USE LYE OR CHEMICAL OR STEEL WIRE GRINDER , BRUSH / USE 1/2 POTATOES AND COARSE SALT , WANT HURT CAST IRON PORE
@countrymountainroad3949
@countrymountainroad3949 4 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right wire brushes wire grinders Etc should not be used on cast iron. Half potato and salt will not get years of baked on crud off of a pan which is why you would use a lye solution. Lye will not hurt the pan. It's actually the recommended way to remove baked on carbon from pans or you can use electrolysis both of which you're not hurt the pan in any way. salt and a potato is good for a pan if you have one and it's already cleaned and seasoned and your just trying to clean the pan.

I agree. I would never put anything on my iron that I would not put in my mouth. It is porous. Lye may make a nice wall hanger, but I would never cook in one infused with lye. That is just me. I purchased a Korn Kob pan, shipped to me. Opened the box and all I could smell was Lye. I will never use it.

We can't get our 1951 Massey Ferguson 35 started after we change the oil filters what do we do next
@appalachiastradingpost6156
@appalachiastradingpost6156 4 жыл бұрын
Buy oil filters I assume you mean the fuel filters? You need to crack each individual fuel line at the injector hand crank it over until fuel comes out then repeat the process for the other injectors
@donaldthomas5852
@donaldthomas5852 3 жыл бұрын
Another way is to pull start it . You put your 35 Massey Ferguson in gear 3 high with the key turn on to start then pull with a chain behind a pick up truck at about 10 miles per hour then let the clutch out may have to pull it a couple of hundred feet. As soon as it starts push clutch in and unhook chain.

Most of this translates to the MF 135. Some differences. Injectors all but impossible to get to. Can usually get it done by loosening the feeds to the injectors at the pump. Nothing easy. Try to never, ever let it run out of fuel!

Hickory4848 so the lines from the injection pump can be loosened and bleed there? I don't see how to get to the injector lines at the actual injectors without raising the fuel tank
@Hickory4848
@Hickory4848 4 жыл бұрын
@@badas95Z I didn't try to get to the injectors themselves. "Just" loosened the lines at the pump where they're 120 degrees apart. One would think getting 1 or 2 lines bled would be enough, but no. At least some times. Getting to the one around on the backside was the worst. Had to cut an old 5/8 (?) open end wrench in two such that it had a stubby handle. The last time I didn't have to do this, I just followed the directions in the manual and it worked for a change. Hope this helps or maybe its done already.

Yup i did mess up what i ment to say is small logo with out the Erie Pa are not Griswold. These were made by Wagner. There are also the Wagner and Griswold names on the same piece. These are Wagner not Griswold and no real collector value. Wagner bought Griswold in 1957. Randall Corp. bought Wagner in 1952 McGraw Edison Inc. bought Griswold in March 1957 and then sold it in December 1957 to Randall who already owned Wagner. Griswold production in Erie, Pa. Stopped in Dec. 1957 and all subsequent "Griswold" pieces were made in the Wagner foundry in Sidney, Ohio. Randall then sold both Griswold and Wagner in 1959 to Textron which sold both companies to General Housewares in 1969 who continued production at the Wagner foundry until it closed in 1999. Griswold pieces made at the Wagner foundry do not say Erie on them. 1⅞" Diameter, Block Lettering aka Small Block Logo 1939-1957 2¼"-2½" Diameter, Block Lettering aka Medium Block Logo or Late Large 1955-1957
