Skating back in the 50s-60s at Rainbow Gardens RD in Albuquerque every week-end, 2 hr sessions, 50 cents...White skates with pom-poms and skating to live organ music and dress codes and "speed" limit restrictions...LOL

It looks much nicer and spacious on the inside than a lot of other similar structures, but I wonder how strong it will be in the face of a storm. that bark seems like it would easily be ripped off with a strong wind, especially since there are so many gaps between the layers and they are so light.
my mum broke her wrist challenging my 10year old to a speed skate when she was 65. Didn't repair properly. Totally ruined her golfing which was her main thing.😥 Be careful.

@@geometron3646 I'm 44 and learning to rollerblade so not quite at risk yet. I just don't understand the logic of people in their 70s and 80s doing it.

Do you adjust the speed of your slide to how heavy you want to throw the stone, or do you aim for a consistent sliding speed?

When I was learning to curl in Newfoundland in 1982, the men, and some of the women, swung the stone behind them, off the ice, and brought it forward as they launched from the hack. Most of the ladies pushed it as demonstrated here, due to the weight of the stone. Aren't there any men left in the game?

We finally have a curling club in southern NJ! Going for my second class & pick up game. ❤ this sport and thank you for the video!
You gave me lessons in Duluth over 30 years ago. We met later and you had imagined I had a PhD in musicology. Funny.

Nice! I went to UMD and played at all those rinks in town. Duluth is the best hockey town I've ever been to. We could play for free on nice ice at several spots around town every single day. I guess this vid was recommended to me because I keep watching vids on how to make your own rink.

We have WWII to thank for the Meteor’s existence today. If it weren’t for the amount of materials needed for the wartime effort, Meteor would have been scrapped. Now she is the last whaleback in the world

The unique point/nub the bow comes to is why the whalebacks were nicknamed "pig boats" - the idea is that it looks sort of like the snout of a pig.

The problem with homelessness exploding in Duluth and any other city is the bleeding heart do-gooders who have sympathy for these people WHO CHOOSE not to follow society's rules, once you stop helping them with soup kitchens and handouts, they will then start helping themselves
