This fort was rated as the most boring ‘attraction’ in Penang by tourists.

The old Cold Storage used to be one of the few places you could get western food and cooking ingredients. It was popular with the members and family of Australian servicemen stationed in the Butterworth airbase. I loved to eat their custard tarts when I was a child. The Garage if I'm not mistaken was previously the car showroom of British Leyland (a defunct British automaker).

Gorgeous buildings, thank you Khoo clan for opening them to the public. Lovely video and Thank you for the narration. I learnt more about the history of the place from your tour than when I was there. Can please leave the descriptions longer on the screen? Many of them disappear before one can finish reading them.

Hi Timothy! I am moving from the US to Penang early next year and your videos are helping me get familiar with my future home. When you get a chance, could you take a walk from Straits Quay, past the Andaman Quayside condos over to Tanjung Bungah beach? I would like to get more familiar with the Tanjung Bungah beach area. Thank you for making these videos!

Hi Timothy, Thanks for the post. It seems as though the DAP Government is punishing Penang by approving the construction of these horrible residential projects. Poor infrastructure planning and high density projects will definitely result in poor quality of life, which I'm sure nobody wants! Penangites who love this once beautiful island should do something to save Penang from this destruction, which seems to have become the norm. Also, I just wonder if these ugly high-rise, high density buildings are actually constructed to withstand tremors and quakes. They seem to be getting closer to our region each time they strike...

I am quite disappointed with the local gov. For all projects and constructions, they do not have an official side to disclose the masterplan and the progress of the projects. Very oftern, the public do not have what actually building by the gov. And even the result of they they built will 100% different than what they annouced from the very beginning.

prior to the construction of the air itam bypass, the construction site contained an abandoned quarter whenever I jogged around the tun sardon area during my a-level period in 2012 and 1st half of 2013. I still vividly remember the kampung buah pala protests against the construction of the oasis condo in 2009 which is currently replaced by the new Taman Buah Pala with its signage at its entrance.

very interesting street.. with beautiful old mansions with history.. but not being rude.. its such a shame.. that hawkers centre is such an eye sore.. with very thirdworld type of vibe.. Penang people should try to improve their visual aesthetic.. why not build a beautiful hawker centre that will enhance the area.. surely its not that difficult..

Great video on Leith Street, Timothy. Edison Hotel, once known as Cathay Hotel was a mansion built by tycoon Yeoh Wee Gark & he named his mansion, Venus House. The bungalow at the centre of the Red Garden Food Paradise hawker centre was built by tycoon Tye Yee Koon & was his primary residence.

Oh yes, the name Yeoh Wee Gark escaped me when I walked the street. Actually, I have forgotten it, even though I was told it when I stayed there.
