If you believe in the limitless power of God, then it's worth considering refraining from imposing limits based on your conception of creation. Science operates not on belief, but on theories grounded in the best available evidence. As evidence evolves, so do prevailing scientific theories. This isn't a flaw; it's progress. Similarly, within religion, interpretations have evolved over time, even if the words in sacred texts remain unchanged. Belief isn't solely rooted in fact or certainty. If one "knew" without doubt, it wouldn't be faith anymore. In essence, if your belief in God is anchored in the idea that the mysteries of the universe are beyond human comprehension, you may inadvertently confine God. Such a perspective suggests a God who diminishes as our scientific understanding expands. This perhaps explains the apprehension some Christians feel towards science; it seems to demystify God, stripping away the perceived magic. Yet, I urge Christians to embrace a faith that allows God to transcend mere miraculous intervention. Let God be the ultimate authority in your faith. Thus, as we delve deeper into the complexities of creation, we draw nearer to understanding God and illuminate the universe's intricacies. For those who don't believe in God, that's perfectly acceptable. Jesus emphasized that salvation is akin to bread offered to the hungry, not a weapon to coerce submission. Viewing it otherwise would contradict Christianity's foundational purpose for existence. Christians should uphold the belief that God created humanity with the freedom to choose. Without choice, one might question why an all-powerful God would embark on creation when loyal servants could simply be created at will. And just to clarify, dinosaurs disappeared long before humans appeared. For goodness sake people.

Okay, so, there's a lot I could say about this, but anyone who thinks komodo dragons are dinosaurs doesn't know what a dinosaur is. People take the literal translation of the Latin name "dinosaur" and sy "oh, it means big lizard, well crocodiles are big lizards!" but if you look at how scientists define a dinosaur, they are a specific group of reptiles which all have 2 bonus holes in their skulls (bonus meaning after you counted the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and spinal holes) and also all dinosaurs had or have hips that are situated in such a way that the creature is able to walk with its belly off the ground. All lizards and crocodilians that survive today lack that crucial shape to their hips and as such can't be dinosaurs even if we ignore how distantly related they are. But! It is true that dinosaurs are still alive today! All birds are dinosaurs.

As a Christian and paleontology hobbyist, I have to point out that dinosaurs from the Jurassic and Triassic did not walk alongside humans. If human footprints were discovered in the same rock layers as dinosaur prints from when dinos ruled, the rock layers had to have been exposed at some point during human existence. We are a very young species coming to fruition millions of years after the non-avian dinosaurs. Christianity fits in the gray areas. Who’s to say God’s sense of time is the same as ours? His “next day” could’ve been millions of years later. That’s how I interpret it anyways because paleontology disproves most of what we knew through Christianity. Honestly, I just make it make sense because of my love for Him, but we were not around anywhere close to the creation of the earth, or times when dinosaurs ruled. These are irrefutable facts.

I don't understand why it's required that you must believe in young earth in order to be a Christian? Every denomination puts emphasis on difference passages and lessons. We all eat shrimp, crab legs , bacon, and wear multiple types of cloth at same time. There's instructions on everything from treatment of your slaves to which people from the lands around you that you can take as slaves. There's even instruction on keeping the young girls who have not known a man as your own. Until they no longer please you. There's instructions on when, why and how to have a abortion in numbers i believe. The point is this, why go against decades, even centuries of science ? I was raised in church by a pastor father. But he always said he won't force church on anyone including his kids. They have fossil records and the science to back it up for evolution, geology, astronomy, etc, etc.. As mankind has moved towards the future we have to learn and advance our knowledge. I would hope that any God that is worshipped would be in favor of education. Using our brains to figure out this world. The world can not afford for us to go back in time and knowledge

@jenn.ministries
@jenn.ministries 7 ай бұрын
I hope it's not required! You can see my other comment; I think there are tons of things only God knows about creation, justice, truth, and mercy - and whether I like them or not, or can fully commit to them or not, is irrelevant. We believe it's all true or it isn't. That's all Christianity requires. Belief in Jesus Christ as the son of God and His placement as Lord over our life. (Churches, bless them...aren't always right).

Another question that I think ties in to this one...do we have anything that points to how old the earth is? Do we think it's between 6 or 7 thousand?
@jenn.ministries
@jenn.ministries 7 ай бұрын
I'm curious what Len would say, but here's a theory for thought - why, if God made every other part of creation aged (Adam was not brought in as a baby, chickens didn't start as eggs, etc), couldn't he have made the earth aged? He said - Boom - world, and it was formed... not that he took millions of years to form it - but it could still logically have been created "old". Maybe we have only been around for so long, but how old is the earth - really? I like this small logic mixed in faith, because in the scheme of anything is possible with God, this is. And in the scheme of God knows way more than me, he knows this. But I also peaceably resign to trusting in God because of all the other fulfilled prophecy, whether I get all the details of earth, moon, and stars or not. ;)

I believe we know the age of the earth by dating zircon crystals in the crust, which are crystals durable enough to survive the heat and pressure of being in the mantle under the earth's crust, but would have been dissolved before the earth fully formed and only solidified into crystals after it stopped being a single molten mess.

Today's version of tithing has no biblical precedent so it can't be seen as biblical obedience. Tithing isn't a Christian doctrine but there's nothing wrong with choosing to tithe by discretion, money or otherwise, to a church or otherwise.
