Nevertheless, if Qatar qualifies in FIFA WC it would mean that Qatar entered the WC as one of the qualified teams and there will be one team less from Asia. It would not affect India's chances of progressing in the next round. For example, suppose Chelsea wins UEFA Champions League, they are confirmed to play UCL next year even if they fail to finish in the top 4 in the Premier League. In that case, there will be 5 teams from England in UCL next year. However, if Chelsea also finishes in the top 4 that would only mean there will be only 4 teams from England in the UCL. I hope this makes sense.

India will enter the Asian Cup qualifying third round if they finish third.

Hi C Smit Patil! You are 100% right. It is unfair to teams who perform better in the league stage. The main reason behind the playoff is keeping people and teams interested in the ISL till the very end. There is no relegation battle and significant position-wise financial incentives in ISL. So there are chances that the clubs will slack and their performances will degrade at the later stage of the competition.
