Thanks for another entertaining episode. I was working on the button band of my granddaughter's cardi for next winter, finished it as you were talking about the Tv series Industry, great timing. I recently bought a knitting pattern book, The Gnomes of Grimblewood by Sarah Schira. She does have single patterns available on Ravelry as well as an annual mystery gnome make knit along each December. The gnomes are so darn adorable and a good way to use up leftovers. I'm currently making my 3rd in the Gnorrie Gnome mkal. Her website & youtube channel is called Imagined Landscapes, and the gnome stories are a hoot too.

Hi Ailsa I am in Sydney and I knit the Love Letter last summer and you’re right ! …..it was in drops belle but it took forever!!! The whole summer it is all over lace work! So not really TV knitting FYI it was really useful to put some stitch markers between each pattern repeat so if you made a mistake it was easy to pin point! I am knitting the Windamere blanket for my daughter and her family this Christmas 🤩👌✨🧶🧶🧶

I've been waiting for you to pop up on my tv. So interesting to hear you talk about your knitting projects and I really like to hear a real Aussie accent that isn't tonally flat like mine. Summer is just about here and Im trying to finish a couple of woolly shawls. Cashmere and Rabbit sound very exotic. I haven't used either yet.

I don't think you're tonally flat! But I do have to kind of psych myself up to sound a little more upbeat in my delivery - takes me ages to press record .. Hope you've done with those woolly shawls.

Oh happy adventures. I’m in northern NSW and summer is here so the sunny coast will be quite a change. Linen and linen is my summer knitting and it’s easy to wash and wear but a B…h to knit 🤭😂
@Wearewoolpeople28 күн бұрын
Hi again - totally agree with linen being everything in summer and what a pain it is to knit. It will be a big change for us up there, but we are looking forward to it. May as well have a late middle age adventure, beats sitting on the couch waiting for grandchildren.
@sjorchatodman3428 күн бұрын
I totally missed going to FibreFest, *sobs a lot*. Apparently grandie duty was more important, .... sheesh how does a grandma chuck a sickie? When FF was located at Mulgoa for a couple of years I took the older grandies with me, they loved it. I dye yarn as a side income so the older grandies love helping me with that and they do 'design' what I'm going to knit for them, but this time I had the bub and it was a short shift, not enough time to throw the baby sling in the car and travel to Wyong. The only summer item I'm knitting is a black cotton singlet top with a pretty lace panel on the back is for my youngest girl who is 21. I use summer with air conditioning to start knitting for next winter for the family. I'm working on the Wizarding Transportation scarf (Harry Potter) for oldest grandie girl, Hannah cardi for the 2nd grandie girl, Love Note for oldest DiL, socks for the youngest son, Pressed Flowers kerchief for oldest daughter, which will have matching socks.
@Wearewoolpeople28 күн бұрын
HI there, you have a lot of very lucky knitworthy people in your family. I can imagine the fun you have with your grandchildren in the dyeing pots, I used to dye yarn as a side hustle too back in the day and I loved it. I also went to the FibreFest in Mulgoa, such a beautiful location.

Thanks for watching! We're still waiting for the weather to warm up properly here for Spring. Although I'll be complaining about the heat in a few months, so probably should enjoy these last days of wintry weather.

I am knitting with Bendigo's Spring cotton/spandex yarn. Soft, stretch and springs back so I am pleased so far. I don't normally knit with cotton because it stretches out of shape but not this.
@Wearewoolpeople28 күн бұрын
I saw that on their newsletter/website recently. This could be the right yarn for that dress I'm planning I think the stretch will be just the ticket there. Cotton yarns with spandex in them are hard to find and they're also good for crochet swimwear and halter top kind of things. I'm going to take a look at that.

Refreshing not see another video about favorite Autumn knits😀 seeing that I live in South Africa where it’s full on summer! Re summer knits: I don’t feel that I can wear sleeveless tops anymore and I don’t like knitting with most cottons… I like knitting fingering weight superwash merino short sleeve tees but they do take forever because I prefer lots of positive ease (helps for some airflow😀) and I have a long torso and also don’t do cropped (mostly because of my age and long torso). I’m busy with Breathing space by Veera Valimaki and plan on doing Vibes by Tiff Neilan next. Our winter was way too short so I must confess that I still have 4 winter garments on the needles which I want to try and work on on cooler days.
@Wearewoolpeople28 күн бұрын
HI Adele - I get what you're saying about the arms, I feel a bit like that too at times. I hope our summer does eventually kick in here, it's been slow to warm up this year. I checked out Breathing Space and the Vibes tee - love how breathing space has the diagonal stripes, so interesting and I love that designer (I too remember the days before Petite Knit). I friended you while I was there, hope you don't mind.

Love your vests and the purl soho yarn such lovely colours. I agree about some of the garments in shows being frumpy, the state I live in the same woman (who’s president of the sewing guild ) wins every year using the same pattern for a blazer and skirt,that is rocking 1990s bank teller chic . It’s dismal 🙈, Bridget R
@WearewoolpeopleАй бұрын
Hey, thank you for your comment. '90's bank teller chic' made me laugh so much. We see the same in the knitting shows here, there is one particular cabled fisherman style pullover pattern from the 70's that gets entered over and over again . It's such a shame, there are so many incredible knitters in Australia but they don't seem to be entering the agricultural shows as much as I wish they would.

Funny - there used to be a show on kids TV here where at the end the host used to look in her 'magic mirror' and rattle off a dozen or so children's names. I was always disappointed because she never once said Ailsa (nor any non-Anglo name now I think about it lol) but she said my sister Karen's name all the time. She used to tease me and say I was invisible! Anyway, congratulations on being randomly selected .. email me at [email protected] and I'll get your postal address to send the tin of nifty gear out. Congrats on reaching 500. I had a good belly laugh with the bag stretching, lol, had that happen to me too. I crocheted a bag with a brown outer of a flowers and a background crochet of just black sc. I crocheted the strap for a cross body length so the bag sat at my hip. I was so proud of my bag and got a few lovely comments. After an hour the bag had sunk down to my thigh, then adding a couple of items from the grandie girl who was with me, it sunk to my knee, by this stage I was hoisting the bag up and thinking 'what the....'. When I got home, I unravelled the strap, redid it a metre shorter, fairly certain that would fix it, but grew again and again. I gave up on the bag. Now I know why people buy the leather handles. When my Knit & Natter group suggested we all make a crochet market bag, I went 'pfft, I'm not falling for that trap". Our group is also going to the Wyong Fibrefest, yay knitting roadtrip.... might see you there

Congratulations on over 500 subscribers! That's great! Lol. I liked your snake commentary at the end. My brother (2 1/2 years older than me) would be right there with you. When we were teens, we decided to go for a walk to the back of our farm. I'm not bothered by snakes. I have respect for them, but find them interesting more than scary. My brother is terrified by them. So he said I had to go in front to scare them away because if he went first, one would slither across his feet. He walked so close behind me, that we were literally belly to back. We got about half way to the back of the farm and a big snake came out of the tall grass and slithered between my brother and I, right over his feet. I thought it was hilarious. Him not so much. He likely broke the 500 meter sprint world record.
@Wearewoolpeople2 ай бұрын
I'm 100% with your brother there! The only problem in Australia is that they're practically all deadly or poisonous. The one I saw the other day was a yellow belly black snake, not deadly to humans (definitely deadly to dogs) but still poisonous. Funny what you're scared of though, because I know people who are scared of sharks and they don't bother me one bit. Snakes otoh, terrified. Thanks for commenting!
@sew_So_beautiful2 ай бұрын
@Wearewoolpeople I would likely be much more afraid of them in Australia. I was afraid of them when I was really young. Snake was one of my first words. I was so young that I wasn't walking yet but I can clearly remember laying in my buggy outside, seeing my mom doing dishes in the kitchen window, and enjoying the feel of the warm summer breeze on my face, when I felt the buggy shake. I pulled myself into enough of a sitting position to. Peek over the edge to see what was doing it and there was a snake climbing up the side of my buggy. I think it just wanted to sun itself someplace warm, but if terrified me and I started screaming my best baby version of "Snake!" My mom heard the commotion and disposed of it. I think I was terrified of them until I was about 7 or 8 after that, but then I decided my parents weren't afraid of them and I loved all animals, so I wasn't afraid of them after that either. It was traumatizing enough at the time, that I can clearly remember it though. I thought he wanted to eat me.
