Thank you.. Although not as meticulous as you, I did get my pattern traced on onto the background. I would like to learn about this with back basting. Is your fb group still active?

Would you use temporary glue on an everyday bed quilt? I'm worried that the point will get shaggy after many washings if I used temporary glue? 💖🌞🌵😷
@suzisaintjames Жыл бұрын
6:35 Is the fabric glue... permanent glue (for no sew projects that doesn't wash out) or temporary ( the kind that washes out)? 💖🌞🌵😷

I really liked this method. Thank you for sharing. I too love to Applique. Though my stems look nice, I like the way you do yours. I am going to try doing it this way. I knew there had to be a better way to do it than what I was doing. Taking extra steps always always always pays off at the end again, thank you for sharing.

When you do the appliqué fabric, do you tuck the seam under the lining or on top of it?
@ABQConnieSue2 жыл бұрын
Either. Which ever is most comfortable. It is usually easier to tuck in underneath. But sometimes you can’t because of another seam.
@broadsjx2 жыл бұрын
It looks like you are only using 2 pins to secure the appliqué to the background fabric while you are back basting? I’ve noticed that I have trouble keeping my appliqué smooth and flat against the background fabric unless I use Sew Lazy or some other fusible to secure the two pieces flat against each other. This is one of the reasons I’ve avoided traditional needle turn appliqué. For those of us trying this method for the first time, what would you recommend to prevent bunching or making the piece too loose to the background? Especially for larger pieces.

This is a method that has been recommended for a current project with both applique and foundation pieced blocks. Being a visual learner, it has been hard for me to understand just how this is accomplished. Your video is an immense help. LOL, I put off starting on the 10 appliqued blocks in favor of the pieced ones. I really want to do hand rather than machine applique on this project. I appreciate your giving me the confidence to go prep one of my simple flower blocks.

Excellent!! My favorite way to do needleturn appliqué for ALL the reasons you listed. One other tip is to use upholstery thread and a tapestry needle or a needle with a big eye to make nice “pilot” holes in The appliqué and background fabric so it makes for easy turning under and easy guide for where to place your needle in the background fabric. Use a contrasting thread to see where you need to snip
