That was a tough day. Sophomore year, I will never forget where I was and what I was doing. I appreciate your videos Nick. I had similar experiences loved the same music etc….. although these are your memories/experiences it’s like looking into back into my own life. Grateful that you are sharing these videos. A whole generation had these same experiences and memories - thank you

It’s very weird to see this as someone who was born only less than a few weeks before this day in history. Such a significantly, yet insignificant life, same as mine, yet I wish I could have been there to share the memories.

To put it simply Nirvana was are generations beatles they saved us from hair metal bands that were getting boring & lazy and paula abdul yuck!. I remember i was with family had dinner out then after my dad stopped to get gas and we're listening to 92.3 k-rock howard stern's main station in n.y the dj that was on air in the early evening was the grease man he said lead singer of nirvana kurt kobain was 'toe tagged' i never heard the expression before . i thought some of the older people at the time were a bit instinctive they had no idea what he meant to us.

When it comes to Nirvana, I will always remember three days: First time I heard Teen Spirit in November '91, Premiere of Unplugged, and Cobain's death. I was a Freshman and I remember a girl in school crying repeatedly. A lot of somber faces lurked the halls that day. It was surreal for me, but not necessarily surprising given the dark events that occurred mere weeks earlier and the seemingly endless bad press Kurt had gotten due to addiction. It's odd that it all occurred in such a short period of time -- about 2.5 years. But when you are young, that seems like a lifetime.

I remember seeing a documentary over a decade ago that really convinced me that Kourtney had him taken out and staged the seppuku...wish I could rewatch it today to see if it still holds true but cant remember the name...either way I wouldn't put it passed her she's out there.

In high school, I checked out the girls but didn’t flood the urinals like the cool kids. 😂 I was in 6th grade when Kurt died. I remember that Friday night, hanging out at the ditch outside our house (our neighborhood had that instead of a sidewalk) and I was bummed. Monday at school, everybody was also bummed and talking about it. Nirvana was/is huge and “Nevermind” was one of my first tapes I had gotten for Christmas 1993.

Really enjoyed watching this. Unfortunately we’ll continue to see a lot of our heroes leaving in our lifetime. Regarding death, this may be a sensitive issue but do think you might ever do a video on losing Joel and how you dealt with that? I’ve lost a few close friends and I thought it might be very healing for some of us viewers who can relate to that type of experience, but I also understand if it’s too personal.

Dial-up, lol. I still remember your aim sn. Funny the things you remember and the stuff you forget about-- like watching the RBF show vid, I was like, "Yeah, I only went for RBF, too, lol, I wonder if I ran into them at that show." Completely forgot about the parking lot, like oh shit! Lol. Totally forgot I brought MC to that show with me. Did we end up going to Lorenzo's too after or did we just hit the road? Because I totally don't remember. Also so 90's: #UndiagnosedADHD and the random memory black holes. Also, watching the vid of Erik's 3-song first band and that group of girls you met, I remembered so well why I never hung out with many other girls. Couldn't stand them, lol. 😂😂
@mistah_whiskahs7 күн бұрын
Yeah, we left after RBF and missed TMBG. These days I regret that. Do you still talk to MC? We did indeed end up going to Lorenzos! My ADHD is still strong lol!
@chicago1387 күн бұрын
@@mistah_whiskahs Wow, so Lorenzo's happened. I can picture it, in their back room, but thought it could just as easily be a made up memory. No, I lost touch with MC, she went to law school and met her husband there. I think he came from a Pentecostal background, so things just got a bit weird after that and we lost touch. I think she has a few kids. I'm glad I was able to get some good ska into her first though! ☺️

Physical media gave art it's value. Whatever digital took over got worse. We've seen it happen with music, movies and video games. Holding art made the quality better and experiencing it more meaningful. Going to the music store used to be an event. I miss discovering artists via the listening stations at Camelot.

I grew up outside west Chester in the 90s. My best memories are playing open mics at fennario. That place is legendary, the scene was something else. Though I didn’t start showing up there until they moved it to church st… I heard that it was still on Gay it was next level. If you have any other vids of fennario please share!

I've been watching a bunch of your videos. Great stuff man, thanks for posting. I'm about the same age as you so this is hitting the nostalgia button for me. Your costumes were next level stuff. Awesome. Was that Myers mask hot as hell under there? I seem to recall those rubber masks getting quite hot and humid inside.
