Hi Guys, I watched your attempted hike in 2016 and last year was on the trail 1 week after you guys. I am watching your year now getting ready for the 2019 season and it was interesting how many places we stayed at that were the same only a day or 2 off. I was surprised I didn't see you on the trail only to find out I went past you when Ninja Snail had her upper respiratory issues. I also stayed at 4 pines and had a terrible stay. Mainly due to the shuttle driver who took me to the home place only to mouth off to me (and the language was disgusting) on the return because he felt I took to long and missed out on going to the mothers day trail magic. I left 6am in the morn the day after mothers day and couldn't leave quick enough as it was dirty.

Hi! I’m Jason. 44 y/o from Cookeville, TN. I’ve found myself at the point in life where I can say that I’ve been spinning my wheels in the rat race of American society and I’m longing to detach from it and do a reset. Be part of a likeminded community. Life is chaotic, but I’m longing to challenge myself in a different kind of chaotic environment with something that’s bigger than myself. Reconnect with nature and reconnect with myself. I love to hike but have never done more than day hikes around many of the state parks here and some out in the Smokies. Ive been binging on your videos and other vlogs to hear testimonials and research and it is really helping me to gain insight of the challenges that one may encounter along the trail. I need about a year to prepare, mentally, physically and financially. Then, on my birthday, March 5th 2020 is when I want to begin my journey at Springer Mountain, GA. Thanks for posting these videos. They’re very helpful.

Jason Dineen I totally feel you Jason! The rat race is real. I would caution you before you head out though. The AT will punch you just as hard in the face. Even doing a week long practice hike doesn’t compare to a 5-6 month hike. Make sure you know why you want to do it before you go. Maybe all you need is a break and a reset. 5-6 months is tough and a burden and if you aren’t willing to work hard day in and day out you won’t make it. I’m not trying to discourage you just caution. The AT Is amazing and a wonderful place to disconnect, just make sure you have an unwavering dedication and reason on why you want to Thru Hike. Good luck man!

Your titles do not seem to match your video and comments? IE the comments on this one indicates Harpers ferry to Carlisle : the video details Carlisle to 501 shelter and beyond?

Is camping open up there or is it only in designated spots.
@WaffleHikes6 жыл бұрын
I was there last week for two days. It is designated campsites only, $13/night. The camping areas are grassy and about the size of a football field. They have bear boxes and privies.

Great videos. You make references to your faith a lot, can you talk about the spiritual aspect of hiking the AT? I am really interested in how hiking and backpacking are a means for growing closer to the Lord.

Omg I was startled to see this video notification and I finished watching all your videos. Sorry I missed you on the AT this year but I had to get off at the same spot you went off on 2016 because of a death in the family. I will be hiking AT next 22 June 19 so hopefully you will enjoy my videos as much as I enjoyed yours. Glad you met some of my trail family mbr with Big Tuna and Kliedoscope. Happy Trails eh.

O.k. team Hike & Tell, I know this is pathetic, but...I just now found you. Great first days on the trail though, like your style. Almost all of the 2018 AT Thru-hiking Vlogers that I followed from the beginning have finished or dropped off. Only two left. I was wondering what I was going to watch, but now I have a lot of your videos to catch up on. lol

I saw this come in and I waited to the end of the day to take it all in. WOW! From the bitter setback in 2016 to a beautifully light sculpted finale I share the bittersweet, but joyous celebration of a life goal completed. The scenery was jaw dropping and the Maine Moose Mayhem was a perfect climax to let you know nature controls who shall pass. Your faith in each other and the sharing and caring that got you through may sustain your future goals as well. Love the colors. I can only imagine what your thoughts were seeing the goal being less than a days hike away. Thrilling. I couldn’t sleep knowing what’s next. 2 AM would be a good departure time. The first red crimson line of the sunrise made my eyes water. No words needed on top. We all felt it with you. So glad it finished safely and successfully. So many lessons learned. Hope you’ll do a reflections video after processing it all. Great videos every week. So going to miss them and the positive energy you guys bring into this world. All the best in what’s to come!
