Hello, I have done the timing job three times now, according to how it is done in the haynes manual and also this video, It rotates freely with a small amount of resistance(spring resistance I assume) but when I move it to tdc and examine the position of everything, the intake cam will be at tdc, the crankshaft sprocket will be at the mark(tdc) BUT the exhaust cam is one tooth to the clockwise(top goes to right if looking at motor from the crankshaft side), Is it wise to move the exhaust sprocket over one tooth? if it spins with minimal interference is it worth trying to rotate that gear one and then seeing if it spins? Worried I have messed something up. Thanks

Aren't You Supposed To Align The Timing marks before You Remove The Old Belt First????
@MrJayDMАй бұрын
You can if you want but you wont be able to see the bottom mark with out having it all removed. There is really no need to set the marks before removing the belt.

Please help... I have a honda accord 7th gen 2.4L automatic i have problem from shifting 1 to 2 , i think it is this solenoid as it only shifts from 1 to 2 if i only let off the throttle but it shifts perfectly when it shifts to 3 4 5... The solenoid is not available as a used part because this car are very few here... So i have a doubt that will the solenoids of 8th gen 2.4 L accord will work as 8th gen accord used spares are available because the 8th gen accord are more here. Can anyone help me by saying whether the 8th gen accord solenoid will work on 7th gen accord 2.4L Note: 8th gen accord automatic has a sports mode with paddle shifters but not the 7th gen accord also the part numbers of 8th gen and 7th accord Solenoids are different but they appear the same (Sorry for my bad english)
@ChristianAndrew1.4Ай бұрын
You can activate them and clean the channels with brake clean , you'll see a lot of old nasty fluid come out and the clicks go back to normal and fix the shifting issue. Brake Clean, gaskets and O-rings solved it for me in an 03 CRV EX with 353, 774 miles. No slip and pulls like a Donkey. Also, the small tubes inside the trans body behind these solenoids have filters in them. They clog up as well, remove them ,spray them with Brake clean too. Hope this helps. PS, might be a good idea to change the trans filter while you're at it. Should be up front behind the radiator. Shaped like a big black gas filter.
@Huss300Ай бұрын
@@ChristianAndrew1.4 thank you for your response, I will clean the solenoid with the brake cleaner and replace the solenoid gasket as you said and also will replace the transmission filter it looks black in color it is just below the battery... But as you have said should I have to remove the old o rings from the solenoid and clean them individually? Will the old o rings not get affected with the brake cleaner and can I use them again after cleaning them?? And surely I will let you know what happens after cleaning them.. Let's hope it gets better I really like this car..
@Huss300Ай бұрын
@@ChristianAndrew1.4 and should I have to change the ATF fluid? It seems clean when I check through the dipstick...
@ChristianAndrew1.4Ай бұрын
@@Huss300 Replace the O rings if they are deformed and leaking you'll lose pressure, and be sure to activate the solenoid when you clean each one or you wont get the brake cleaner through the passage thats clogged if thats the case. My fluid looks new too , the buildup that causes this wont circulate, its stuck inside the solenoid channels and around the solenoid shafts , which cause them to work very slow and not at all if its bad enough. The solenoids are 12v so you can use a lead off of the battery to activate each one.
@ChristianAndrew1.4Ай бұрын
@@Huss300 If you havent, I would do it. It'll take 3 fluid changes to get it all out. I did it 2 weeks inbetween each change. And then you're good to go. PS, dont forget to do the overdrive solenoid too, its the single one that should be on top of the trans .

Probably no chance anyone will reply soon enough to help, but just thought I'd mention I'm replacing this fan right now and the replacement unit i got from autozone for some reason doesn't include that little rubber boot on the bottom mounting point. It really is a problem, because the fan pretty easily slides back and forth down there even with the top bolted on. Either going to figure out if i can take that piece off the old fan (does not seem to be as simple as pulling it off) or i guess i head back to autozone
@zeph0shadeАй бұрын
Update: it was just just stubborn at first, you can simply pull it off with some effort. Might be good to know if someone else finds the one they bought doesn't have one though.

I would just use electrical tape to wrap it to fill the gap
@zeph0shadeАй бұрын
@@MrJayDM Yeah I had started to think about what alternatives I could use to fill it, I hope there's be a better option than electrical tape though because just wrapping it would also make it too wide. Can obviously just cut off the sides when you're done applying it but it'd be a shame wasting that much tape if there's something better that could just be crammed in there instead.

Looking at buying a D16Z6 Civic. Seller says they've replaced spark plugs, plug wires, cap, button, rotor, fuel filter, and iac. Also says the car is sluggish under acceleration at low RPM. Could this be bad cam timing, distributor timing, O2 sensor or something else?
@j1j11j15 күн бұрын
Is the distributer advancing. Sitting caused mine to freeze - corrode in place. Car would run but not accelerate. Happened similarly to a VW I had. If it is vacuum advance one may observe the mechanism move when sucking on the diaphram. Cap off. Some VW used centrifical advance and the too may bind for whatever reason. Not likely your problem but these are somewhat symptomatic

Wouldn't this create your fuel pump to run hotter ??? Because of gases fumes not escaping as they need to???
@MrJayDM3 ай бұрын
No because the fumes are escaping, the evap just recerculates them into the intake. With no evap system they just dump into the atmosphere. The evap system is just for emissions. EPA shit... it adds nothing to fuel economy either.

@MrJayDM3 ай бұрын
The ecu and fuel pump have their own fuse, 2 different circuits. I wouldnt think a bad fuel pump could pop the ecu fuse, it would pop its own fuse.The fuel pump also runs through the main relay. The ignition is the only point where the 2 would possibly come into contact with each other. (Fuel pump & ECU) I think you have a faulty ground, or the ignition switch is grounding out.
